A joke on von Neumann

A life story about John von Neumann written by Norman Macrae has a version in Japanese language, which one of my superiors highly  recommended to read. He said somewhat kiddingly that such an incredible intelligence as Neumann had never existed on the earth, as I agree upon, since I cannot imagine how to calculate multiplication of eight-digit numbers in a moment, on the contrary or rather, I sometimes make an error in calculation despite using a CASIO calculator. My knowledge of Neumann was only that he worte Theory of Games and Economic Behavior and was born in gentle Hungarian, so this chronicle in objective description is very interesting for me.

Now, It seems (at least for me) that the reason Neumann has been known little to Japan in general could be due to the tragedy of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, because the defeated nation, Japan wouldn't have respected his wide range of contributions as a great figure of science.  Japanese people, if not, should have given credit for the bombs. This is controversial and sensitive issue, so I cannot go any steps further (my tongue fails me).

Just one thing: without his intelligence, I could not have made use of this laptop, less likely to have lived in a world of convenience. It is an ironic joke that my superior tells who doesn't get better at using a PC!
