Cheval's Imaginal Journey
It has been almost a year since the pandemic has taken place and the idea of traveling is no longer the same for us. I felt frustrated at first but an episode about an artist motivated me to keep creation even in this situation. Let me introduce a story of Ferdinand Cheval, and his magnificent creation "Le Palais idéal".
Facteur Cheval (1836-1924) was a postman in rural France. He never left his town but he built an extraordinary house all by himself that looked like a mixture of various cultures. What inspired Cheval to build the house called "the Ideal Palace" was the postcards from all over the world he delivered to people’s mailboxes everyday. He saw all the images and was able to re-create them in his backyard. Even if you cannot travel the world, you can create something extraordinary from the smallest piece of information. And for the Paris Fashion Week that is just around the corner, my imagination never stop to create as Cheval told me.

Letter from our Atelier
During his Fall/Winter 2017 collection, Nakazato described, “(I) have learned through my years of designing costumes that custom-made garments have the power to enrich the wearer from the heart, and that they can feel liberated when wearing something designed just for them. Before I knew it, I had come to want people all over the world to experience this sense of liberation.” So far, the setup of new garment structures via TYPE-1, Biosmocking technology that creates unique garment shapes, and the Face to Face experience have brought YUIMA NAKAZATO closer to realizing this vision. At YUIMA NAKAZATO, we continue to come up with ideas for using technology to enrich people’s lives.
