18歳未満の小児のサル痘データ。CDCは、18歳未満の83人のサル痘ウイルス（MPXV）感染を確認。報告された症例の0.3%を占めた。サル痘に罹患した0〜12歳の子ども28人のうち、64％が男子で、ほとんどが家庭内でサル痘の成人と直接肌と肌を接触させていた。13歳から17歳の青年55人はほとんどが男性（89％）。男性同士の性的接触が最も一般的な推定感染経路であった（66％）。大部分（89％）は入院不要で、集中治療室レベルの治療を受けた感染者はなく、死亡もなかった。
