毎日の習慣として、１日５問英文法クイズにチャレンジしましょう！本日のテーマは「同等比較」です。日本語を参考に適切な語(句)を選んでください。

(1) 彼はネイティブスピーカーと同じくらい流暢に英語を話します。
He speaks English [ same / as ] fluently as a native speaker.

[解答] as
[解説] 副詞fluently（流暢に）を修飾する副詞asを使った表現。sameも「同じ」という意味ですが、sameは形容詞であるため、副詞を修飾することはできません。
He speaks English as fluently as a native speaker.（彼はネイティブスピーカーと同じくらい流暢に英語を話します）

(2) 私の家はあなたの家ほど大きくありませんが、とても居心地が良いです。
My house is [ as not / not as ] big as yours, but it's very cozy.

[解答] not as
[解説] 同等比較の否定文は、「as … as ～」よりも前に not を置きます。
My house is not as big as yours, but it's very cozy.（私の家はあなたの家ほど大きくありませんが、とても居心地が良いです）

(3) このカフェのコーヒーは、通りの下のカフェのコーヒーと同じくらい良いです。
The coffee at this café is just as good [ as / than ] the coffee at the one down the street.

[解答] as
[解説] 「同じくらい」という同等比較の表現はas … as ～（〜と同じくらい…）と、asを使って比較対象をつなげます。thanは「〜よりも」と比較対象と差があるときに使います。[例] This café is better than that one.（このカフェは、あのカフェよりも良い）
The coffee at this café is just as good as the coffee at the one down the street.（このカフェのコーヒーは、通りの下のカフェのコーヒーと同じくらい良いです）

(4) 彼女は彼女の妹よりも2倍多くお金を稼ぎます。
She earns [ as twice / twice as ] much money as her sister does.

[解答] twice as
[解説] 倍数表現 twice（２倍）は「as … as ～」の直前に置きます。
She earns twice as much money as her sister does.（彼女は彼女の妹よりも2倍多くお金を稼ぎます）

(5) 今日の天気は昨日ほど暑くありませんが、それでもいい天気です。
The weather today is not as [ hot / hotter ] as yesterday, but it's still nice.

[解答] hot
[解説] 「as … as ～」を使った英文では必ず原級（＝もともとのカタチ）を使います。hotterは比較級のためNG。[例] The weather today is hotter than yesterday
The weather today is not as hot as yesterday, but it's still nice.（今日の天気は昨日ほど暑くありませんが、それでもいい天気です）
