On the first day of the tenth month in winter, the Emperor sent Kuchimochi no Omi, a descendant of Ikuha no Omi, to summon the Empress. Kuchimochi no Omi arrived at Tsutsuki Palace and met with the Empress, but she remained silent and did not respond. Despite being soaked by the rain and regardless of the time of day, Kuchimochi no Omi prostrated himself in front of the Empress's residence and refused to leave. His sister, Kuniyori Hime, who served the Empress, was by the Empress's side and saw her brother enduring the rain. Moved by his plight, she sadly sang.

口持（くちもち）の臣は筒城宮（つつきのみや）に到着し、皇后に会いましたが、皇后は黙ったままで何もお返事をなさいませんでした。雨に濡れても、昼夜を問わず、口持（くちもち）の臣は皇后のお住まいの前に伏して去りませんでした。彼の妹で皇后にお仕えしていた国依姫（くによりひめ）は、兄が雨に打たれているのを見て、悲しみながら歌いました。
