（在位）四年の春二月、天皇は葛城山（かつらぎやま）に狩りに出かけました。突然、背の高い男が現れ、谷で天皇に出会いました。この男の顔や姿は天皇によく似ていました。天皇はこの男を神だと思いましたが、「あなたはどなたですか」と尋ねました。

背の高い男は「私は現人神（あらひとがみ）です。まず、あなたの名前を教えてください。そしたら私も教えます」と答えました。天皇は「私は幼武尊（わかたけるのみこと）です」と答えました。すると男は「私は一言主神（ひとことぬしのかみ）です」と名乗りました。
