Sawara Grand Festival

Today, let me introduce the festival in my hometown, Sawara.
I would love to introduce it because I found the section that captured this festival in the Japan Times Alpha, a newspaper.
The festival is one of the major float festivals in Kanto and goes back hundreds of years. It actually takes place twice a year. The summer festival has already been held, but the autumn one will be held in a week this year.
The reason why two festivals is that they're held in different districts. The summer one was originally held to prevent epidemics. That's based at Yasaka Shrine. The autumn one is a harvest festival and starts at Suwa Shrine. One of the big events of the festival is "nonojimawashi" which is the float's turning around in the direction of the "no" (の), hiraga character. I hope lots of people come to see it!!
