Shigeru Ishiba wins LDP poll, announces snap election

After five tries, the former Defence Minister Shigeru Ishiba finally won the party's presidential election. He won a runoff against economic security minister Sanae Takaichi by 215 votes to 194. Ishiba emphasized that one of his top priorities would be to rebuild voter trust in the LDP which a political slush funds scandal had heavily damaged. However, the incoming prime minister announced that he plans to dissolve the Lower House for a snap election on Oct. 27. "I believe it's important for the new administration to be judged by the people as soon as possible," he said.

I hoped for Sanae Takaichi, a former economic security minister to win so I haven't been satisfied with this result, but the thing that I can't forgive the most is that former prime minister Humio Kishida was spreading the message among the people who had led the government together that not to vote for her. I never want him to be involved in the administrative boundaries and hope Takaichi to be the next president.
