サタポとエキゾチシズム

サタポ結成時からのコンセプトとして「ブリコラージュ」と「エキゾチシズム」というのがあります。

ブリコラージュについては過去に公式サイトで解説がありました。

(※注釈) レヴィ＝ストロースが神話世界を通して発見した方法は「ブリコラージュ」といわれている。ブリコラージュはもともとは「修繕」とか「寄せ集め」とか「細工もの」といった意味であるが、フランスではそのブリコラージュをする職人のことをブリコルールといって、あらかじめ全体の設計図がないのに（あるいは仮にあったとしても）、その計画が変容していったとき、きっと何かの役に立つとおもって集めておいた断片を、その計画の変容のときどきの目的に応じて組みこんでいける職人のことをさしている。そのためブリコラージュにおいては、貯めていた断片だけをその場に並べてみても、相互に異様な異質性を発揮する。ところが、それが「構造」ができあがっていくうちに、しだいに嵌め絵のように収まっていく。本来、神話というものはそういうものではないか、構造が生まれるとはそういうことではないか、そこにはブリコラージュという方法が生きているのではないかと、レヴィ＝ストロースは見たわけである。

もう一つのキーワード「エキゾチシズム」、これは作品の至るところに散りばめられています。

初期作品のサブジェクトのコンピ提供曲で、すでにハワイアンなサンプルを前面に出しています。1996年。

そして1stアルバム「NIRVANA or LUNCH?」（1998）が澁澤龍彦の「高丘親王航海記」をモチーフに製作されたというのは前に紹介しましたが、その小説の要素のひとつが「エキゾチシズム」。このアルバムでは音楽的にあまりエキゾの直接的な影響は感じられないが、その世界観を意識しているのかも。

3rd「Belle Excentrique」(2000) ではレス・バクスターを筆頭にモロにエキゾ/モンドなムードが充満しています。

それからneji初期のリリースで、元ネタ集的なミックス「Paradise Lost」（2001）

収録曲云々より、周辺人脈をブリコラージュのネタにしたような印象を受ける。
この「知り合いをまとめてコンピにぶち込む手法」はその後のヌヌヌンの王道スタイルとなり、そこからのフィードバックを再びサタポ本体に還元してより進化していくことになります。
