Sports from far away

Hello, my name is Haruka Ozawa, a fourth-year student in the Arts and Sciences group. I have been involved in TSUKUBA LIVE! since its first edition exactly one year ago.

Let’s bring home TSUKUBA LIVE!

My main responsibilities have been the designing and placing orders for goods to be worn by the visitors, staff members, and performers on the day of the event. As well as the shirt design, I have also produced stickers, cheerleading pins, pamphlets, towels, pseudo-tickets, and so on.

When you attend an event, don't you get excited if the key chains  goods you receive are cool or cute? Well I do. So when I design goods, I often aim for something that I would simply be happy to receive. I also feel that if I have something to take home with me, I can look back on it later and remember the experience and atmosphere of the day, so I make my goods with the hope that visitors on the day feel the same way. By the way, a high percentage of TL creators put the stickers on their PCs and phone cases. It makes me very happy and proud at the same time.

Sports and I and TSUKUBA LIVE!
I always wonder how I am participating in a Sports event. II have never been involved in sports in my life. I was never athletic so I always avoided playing sports. However, I was a member of a team called "Tsukurite" and happened to be involved in "TSUKUBA LIVE!”. I met people I had never met before, and learned what kind of players are active at the same University. It was like experiencing a different world everyday.. The process of creating this event and the day I participated as a staff member were much more enjoyable than I had imagined, and I feel that my  barriers to sports have been broken down thanks to TSUKUBA LIVE!

The vision of TSUKUBA LIVE! is "to use the power of sports to break down barriers, connect people, and create a great flow”. The barriers we want to break down is the barrier between those who are involved in sports and those who are not. One of the goals of TSUKUBA LIVE! is to become an event where people who are not involved in sports can easily come and enjoy it, not to mention those who originally love sports. I hope that the designs we create at TSUKUBA LIVE! will be one of the reasons for such people to become interested in this event.

I will be graduating this March, so this will be the last time I will be involved in this event, but the future is bright because the junior members of Tsukurate are already developed. I look forward to TSUKUBA LIVE! spreading to more people and becoming an even bigger event.
