The beauty of “Watching” “Supporting” sports!
\ 日本語バージョンはこちら! /
」Nice to meet you all. My name is Rei Kato. This is my second year in Tsukuba after entering University of Tsukuba from graduate school. I have loved dancing since I was a child, and have experienced baton twirling, general gymnastics, and various genres of dance. Currently, I am a member of the Physical Education degree program and deepening my studies.
I have been a member of the performance staff of TSUKUBA LIVE! from the previous "Sametetate" and this year's "MELT! Additionaly,I participated in TSUKUBA LIVE! as a performer in "FUSION!" which was supposed to be held a year ago and "Summer Tuuune!” which was held last summer. I would like to tell you why TSUKUBA LIVE! is so special from the creator and performers perspective.
Creating an event that everyone can enjoy
My job as a director at TSUKUBA LIVE! is to create the best way to present a sports event and build a moment that everyone can enjoy to the fullest. We maximize the potential we have and offer the best experience to the audience and also create an environment where athletes can shine to the fullest. The entire production team is giving everything we have to achieve these two goals. Part of achieving this goal is planning the best pre-game performances, the way the players enter the venue, the cheering methods, the MC's lines, the sound, and much more, utilizing the experience each staff member has cultivated in the background. Please look forward to seeing what kind of performances await you on the day of the event!
The fun of "watching" sports
I've written a lot so far, but when I first started getting involved with TSUKUBA LIVE! I said “what are Home games? TSUKUBA LIVE? What?” I didn't know what was going on with so many vocab words I never heard of. I'm pretty sure I was not the only one who got confused hearing TSUKUBA LIVE! for the first time lol.
If I had not been approached as a performer, I would never have been able to watch the game. I was lucky enough to be asked to be a performer at TSUKUBA LIVE! To be honest with you, if I was not asked to participate as a performer, I would not have watched the game. When it all started, it was straight up heart! The players, who had practiced hard day in and day out, played skillfully, powerfully, and with great intensity...they were just so cool. And the feeling of the venue becoming one with the crowd was just the best! Furthermore, there were so many booths outside the venue to enjoy the whole day! I seriosly regret not having watched sports before.
It is difficult to be interested in something you never experienced, and it takes courage to take a step. I was the same way. However, I hope that those who read this column will have the interest and courage to come to TSUKUBA LIVE! I am sure you will not regret it, and I promise you will have a great time.
Lastly
Once again, TSUKUBA LIVE! is filled with many truly fascinating people and things. I would like everyone to experience the fun of not only "playing" sports, but also watching and sports. Please come to Tsukuba Capio on March 22. Let's enjoy the greatest excitement and interaction together!
