日系アメリカ人が、戦時中、強制収容されたことは知っていましたが、それを克明に描いた文学作品を初めて読みました。涙なしに読めませんでした😢
I knew the historical fact that Japanese-Americans were forced to evacuate to the internment camp during the World War II, but this is the very first novel that depicts about it in detail. It was heart-breaking…I couldn’t read it without tears😢
今年2月、バイデン大統領が、日系人の強制収容を改めて謝罪する声明を発表。「ニドトナイヨウニ」と日本語の表現を交えて、決意を示しました。このようなことは、日系人はもちろん、他のどの民族・人種に対しても、二度と起こってほしくないと願っています。
Just this February, President Biden reaffirmed the apologies to Japanese-American immigrants, saying Japanese phrases: “Nidoto Mai youni (which means “Let it not happen again”).
This kind of thing should never happen to any people, any tribes or races.
