Misprint – only for this year

Yesterday was Mountain Day, a public holiday in Japan. Or so I thought.
At least, my Japanese wall calendar tells me so (see the photo).
Hence, I was surprised to get a reply from my business associate in Japan yesterday.
Later, I learnt that this public holiday had been shifted from 11 to 8 August this year in line with the closing ceremony of the Olympics.
Being in Germany where most public holidays (literally “holy days”) have a religious origin, I am kind of amused by the Japanese pragmatism in moving “holy days” around to suit purely profane considerations.
The misprint shows that even works of professional fact checkers cannot be 100% future-proof.
