I participated in an event called "Not Just Kilimanjaro! A Variety of Tanzanian Coffee Tasting.”

First, we listened to an explanation about Tanzania, and then we had a coffee tasting session with four different types of coffee beans from various regions.
The event was attended by Tanzanian embassy staff, including Ambassador Baraka H. Luvanda, as well as several Japanese staff members.
It was evident that the Tanzanian embassy put a lot of effort into the event.
Usually, ambassadors leave such events after giving a speech, but Ambassador Luvanda stayed until the end.

I didn't know that Tanzania cultivates both Arabica and Robusta coffee beans.
It turns out that around 35% of Tanzanian coffee is exported to Japan.

The four types of coffee beans were "Northern," "KAGERA," "MBEYA," and "MBINGA.”
Each had distinct characteristics in terms of aroma, acidity, and bitterness.
Unfortunately, my taste buds and ability to express the flavors were not sufficient to convey them accurately.
However, I personally enjoyed the coffee made from the "Northern" and "MBINGA" beans.

The event took place in a building in Aoyama, where UCC Group's Tokyo headquarters are located.
There was a coffee tree planted at the entrance, and I was lucky to see it blooming with white flowers.

Having lived in Ethiopia for three and a half years, whenever I had the chance to choose, I always went for Ethiopian coffee beans when visiting cafes.
From now on, I will also consider Tanzanian coffee.

Of course, I also took the opportunity to explain about PONTIS to Ambassador Baraka H. Luvanda and the embassy staff.

「キリマンジァロだけじゃない！多彩なタンザニア産コーヒー飲み比べ」というイベントに参加しました。

最初にタンザニアについての説明を聞き、その後で生産地が異なる4種類のコーヒー豆の飲み比べをするという会でした。
バラカ ・H・ルヴァンダ大使をはじめとして駐日大使館のタンザニア人スタッフ全員と日本人スタッフ数人もいらっしゃっていました。
タンザニア大使館がすごく力を入れていることがわかります。このようなイベントでは大使は挨拶が終わるとすぐに帰ってしまうことも多いですが、大使も最後までいらっしゃいました。

タンザニアではアラビカとロブスタの両方を栽培しているとは知りませんでした。
そして、タンザニア産の35％くらいが日本に輸出されているそうです。

4種類のコーヒー豆は「北部」「KAGERA」「MBEYA」「MBINGA」の豆です。
それぞれ、香り、酸味、苦味などが異なっています。
私の味覚と表現力が十分ではなく、うまく伝えられないのが残念です。
「北部」と「MBINGA」の豆を使ったコーヒーが私にはあいました。

会場はUCCグループの東京本部がある青山のビルで入り口にはコーヒーの木が植えてありました。
ラッキーなことに白い花が咲いていました。　

私はエチオピアに3年半いたことがあるので、カフェに行った時に選べる場合はいつもエチオピアの豆を選んでいました。これからは、タンザニアも選びます！

もちろん、バラカ ・H・ルヴァンダ大使や大使館のスタッフの方たちにもPONTISについて説明をしてきました。
