Since the COVID-19 pandemic, I have been working from home more often, and as a result, I've been eating more retort-pouch curry for lunch.
Before that, when I thought of curry, I would make it by putting solid curry roux, meat, and vegetables into a pot.
Of course, it wasn't just for one person; we would eat it as a family at dinner.There are other reasons too, but it seems that more people are eating retort-pouch curry individually rather than making curry in a pot.

When making curry in a pot, there are usually leftovers.
Sometimes, I would use the leftover curry to make curry udon the next day.
However, with retort-pouch curry, there are no leftovers.

Those who want to make curry udon have started using retort-pouch curry.
Noticing this trend, Otsuka Foods created retort-pouch curry specifically for curry udon.

日本人はカレーが大好きです。

コロナ以降、自宅で仕事をすることが多くなった結果、私はお昼ご飯にレトルトカレーを食べる事が増えました。
それまではカレーと言えば、鍋に固形のカレールウや肉、野菜を入れて作っていました。もちろん、一人分で食べるのではなく、夕食時に家族で食べていました。
その他の理由もありますが、鍋で作ったカレーではなく一人ずつレトルトカレーを食べる人が増えているそうです。

鍋でカレーを作った場合、大抵の場合はカレーが残ります。
残ったカレーを使って、次の日にカレーうどんを作ることもありました。
でも、レトルトカレーになるとカレーは残りません。

カレーうどんを作りたい人は、レトルトカレーで作るようになりました。
このことに気がついた大塚食品はカレーうどん用のレトルトカレーを作りました。
