ドバイ空港で上智大学の学生グループと会いました　I met a group of Sophia University students at Dubai Airport.

I had a surprising encounter at Dubai Airport.


I recently traveled to Accra, Ghana, and Dubai.
It had been 10 years since my last visit to Accra and 7 years since my last visit to Dubai.
Although each stay was only for 5 days, it was a delightful experience as I met up with friends and made new ones.

I transited through Dubai on my way to Accra, and at Dubai Airport, I encountered a group of about 10 young Japanese people.
If it had been just a group of young people on a flight from Japan to Dubai, I might not have thought much of it.
Similarly, having a few Japanese passengers on a flight from Dubai to Accra wouldn't have been particularly surprising.
However, seeing a group of around 10 people was quite unusual, so I became curious about who they were.

When I'm curious, I try to take action, so I approached someone who seemed to be leading the group and asked, "What kind of group are you?" It turns out they were participants in a short-term training program from Sophia University. They were going to spend about two weeks at a partner university in Abidjan after my flight stopped in Accra.

As I started introducing myself, the person I had approached said, "Wait, are you...?" I was surprised and replied, "Huh?" It turns out that we had been following each other on Twitter (now X).

I'm eager to hear about their experiences and thoughts during their time in Cote d'Ivoire.
I'm sure the experience was incredibly valuable for both them and the people they interacted with in Cote d'Ivoire.

ドバイ空港でちょっと驚いた出会いがありました。


先日アクラ（ガーナ）とドバイに行きました。
アクラは10年ぶり、ドバイは7年ぶりでしたた。
それぞれ5日間という短い滞在でしたが、友だちと会ったり新しい友だちができたりと楽しい滞在でした。


アクラにはドバイで飛行機を乗り継いで行ったのですが、ドバイで乗り継ぐ時に10人くらいの日本人の若者のグループがいました。
日本からドバイへのフライトに若者グループがいるのであれば気にしませんでした。
ドバイからアクラへのフライトに一人や二人の日本人がいるのもそれほど珍しいことではありません。
でも、10人くらいのグループでいるというのはめったにあることではありませんので、どういう人達なのだろうと興味を持ちました。

興味を持ったらなるべく行動に移そうと思っています。
それで、そのグループの引率者と思われる人に、どういうグループですか？と聞いてみました。
上智大学の短期研修プログラムの人たちでした。
私が乗るフライトがアクラの次に止まるアビジャンで上智大学の提携大学で２週間ほど研修をするということでした。

私の自己紹介をし始めたら、私が話しかけた人が「もしかして、かめ。。。」と。　
私はおどろいて、「え？！」と言ってしまいました。
なんとびっくり。ツイッター（現在のX）でお互いにフォローしていた方でした。

彼女たちがコートジボワールでどんなことを経験し、どんなことを考えたのかをぜひ聞いてみたいです。（10人ぐらいのそのグループは一人を除いて全員が女性でした。）
彼女たちにとっても、彼女たちと交流したコートジボワールの人たちにとってもすごく貴重な体験だったに違いありません。
