Chinatown&Divisoria

I am just gonna write down how I felt by visiting those places yesterday.

The feeling of visiting there was just so hard to describe. Once we got home, my host mother asked us how did we felt in there, but we couldn’t answered the question straight. It is just according to my own thoughts, but it was because beyond my expectations.

Personally we have been to bureau of immigration for the tourist VISA extension. It was so crowded. I guess it is due to designated holiday of the administration. Everyone looked so confused and stressed towards the process of VISA extension, it should be easier than it was actually.

We moved to the lackey China town to have lunch. The mall was so clean. There were some shops affiliated by China. The mall was characterized by specific bland considered as a high price. I found some Japanese stores as well.

The restaurant was the hustle and bustle of the tourist and local Chinese people. We ordered some popular food that Kim recommended us. Oyster cake features delicacy. Eventually we could not finished it all, so just took out as a leftover.

At Chinatown and Divisoria, we look around some food stall and shops selling clothing in cheap price. It was even cheaper than shops in Green hills. It was interesting that young generation has attracted by those shops for shopping. Price is quite meaningful to them rather than convenience. Well, it is just my host sister’s opinion though. Walking for around 1 hour and we found that the environment of livelihood was different from Quezon City where we are staying. The experience gave me an insight into how social gaps is existing in Manila. Infrastructure was in bad condition. For example sewage and construction midstream. Buildings were not completed and had trash everywhere. Everything looked old and grayish. There were a dazzling array of collapsing housing. That was indelibly etched into my memory.

There were the broad spectrum of people in there. But still the food in Chinatown stimulated my appetite. Manila can be defined as microcosm of society in whole wide world.
