The next thing I remember is, waking up with a feeling as if I had had a frightful nightmare, and seeing before me a terrible red glare, crossed with thick black bar.

次に私が覚えているのは、すさまじく恐ろしい悪夢を見たかのような感覚を伴って目をさまし、分厚い黒い板と交わっておぞましい赤の炎を目の前に見ていたことです。

I heard voices, too, speaking with a hollow sound, and as if muffled by a rush of wind or water: agitation, uncertainty, and an all-predominating sense of terror confused my faculties.

空虚な音、まるで風か水の急流にかき消されたかのように話す声も聞こえました。動揺、不安、そしてすべてを支配する恐怖感が私の能力を混乱させました。
