What is the best way to view illness and injury? from mp4"Soul&Spirit"

A part of the interview with Father Vladimir, from mp4 "Soul&Spirit".

This article was published as a preparatory material for the "Systema Healing"course.

Valerie: We have another very popular question. What is the best way to view illness and injury? If illness happens to us, and they seem unjust.

Father Vladimir: It seems, of course. First of all, if illness comes, we’re taught that it’s not necessary the cause of illness. It’s not necessary that the person is sinning, or parents were sinning. As Christ cured the blind person from early, from birth, his Apostles asked, “Why is this person blind from birth? He said, “Because he was sinning, or his parents are sinning?” Christ said, “Not because of his parents. Not because of his sin.” Christ cured him. Not necessary because of the sin of the parents and person.

Theologians say, the Holy Father say that God does not punish.
He heals. God is not offended by our sins. He waits, and heals.
God sends his rain on the evil and righteous, equally.

God sends his weights in the case of, through my experience. In some cases, some people lose their child. Child dies. Maybe at a young age, maybe at an older age, but a child dies. What is the result of the death of the child? A dramatic difference in his parents. And we know these parents. We know these instances in our community. Because of the death of the child, the one strives, become very Christian. Complete change of lifestyle, very Christian, very hardworking, but of course that’s what applies.

So God brings people to the faith through these instances. Usually, it’s the same thing. Because of the death of the child, parents become very very very religious, and strive towards Christianity.

What is a result of the second World War, the generation of my parents.
the 20th century in Russia was a time of great sorrow. You have the Stalin purges, then you have the second World War. Then you have leaving the Soviet Union, to maybe taking to a slave camp in Germany.
But before that, many of your relatives were killed during the War. Then you are winded up in the Europe, strange land, strange language. And you winded up in Canada. But the result of this great sorrows, decent people, God-fearing people. Wherever they, these people arrived in Canada, in all the large cities, they would build, right away, a church.
They don’t have money for a house, but they built a church together.

Grief and sorrow brings people close to God. God is a healer. He heals the bad society, and waits for people to turn towards him. It’s not our point of view. The Christian point of view. Orthodox point of view.
God is not punishing the world. He heals the world. Unfortunately, some of the methods can be very difficult.

In terms of sickness. We have a, in our community, there was one lady.
I’ve never seen such a piety in all my life. She was stricken by cancer, which was very trying. But she passed the test. No anger, no resentment. Not at all. I’m going to die. I want to take communion once a week. She wrote notes about what has to be done afterwards etc.
Unbelievable, this strength of faith.

You’re asking me about sorrow. It’s grief and sorrowful for this person to pass on, but what a person. Her faith. I don’t know if I have that faith as she has. Come close to that maybe. I was absolutely struck, and marveled at this wonderful wonderful wonderful soul that accepted this, “I have little time. I’m going to prepare.”

The time on earth is very small compared to the time in eternity. How we live this life here, as we all know, as we live our life here. That is an exam for us. how we’re going to be in the after life. That’s your answer to sorrow and sickness.

God is healing, and thank God. We have the faith to accept this sorrow and grief in this way.
