Introduction

Hi there!
I'm Tila (@tilanosaur), a Retro Pokémon TCG lover from Tokyo.
In this article, I'd like to introduce my own, maybe the original, Walrein ex deck in RS-PK format (a.k.a ADV-PCG in Japan).

Featured Cards

Walrein ex (PK 99)
Walrein ex's awesome Poké-Power Chilling Breath locks all of Trainer cards including Supporters during your opponent's next turn.
(That's a unique and powerful effect in the 27+ years history of Pokémon TCG!)
This deck aims to use Chilling Breath repeatedly for each your turn, and take all 6 prizes before your opponent gets moving.

Walrein ex (LM 89)
The another Walrein ex has also powerful Poké-Body Icy Aura.
It allows you to make quick 50-60 damages that can KO many non-ex Basic Pokémon combined with Water Arrow on Turn 2-3.
Even if your opponent wants to prepare attackers on their bench, Water Arrow can hit them in advance.

Note: Walrein ex (LM 89)'s Icy Aura has a known issue in TCG ONE.
When your opponent's active Pokémon is KO'd by Icy Aura, it triggers twice unexpectedly.

Sealeo (LM 43)
Sealeo has a good enough performance as a Stage 1 Pokémon, its Poké-Power Power Circulation is useful to save your Energy cards against Energy Removal 2 and Numel (DR 70)'s Kindle.
To use Jirachi (HL 8)'s Make a Wish and Surprise! Time Machine strongly, I recommend to employ 4 Sealeo in this deck.

Latios ex (DF 96)
Latios ex is an easy-to-use and powerful Pokémon against Pokémon ex.
This deck has a plenty of Water-type attackers unlike other common decks, so you may replace Latios ex with an other card.

Jirachi ex (CG 94)
Jirachi ex's Shield Beam prevents your opponent from using powerful Poké-Powers such as Electrode ex(RG 107)'s Extra Energy Bomb, Blastoise (RG 104)'s Energy Rain, Pidgeot (RG 10)'s Quick Search and so on.
In particular, if you shut off Quick Search with using Chilling Breath, your opponent may only say "It's your turn".

Jirachi (HL 8)
Jirachi's Make a Wish lets you play Pidgeot (RG 10) or other evolved Pokémon more easily.
In the prototype of this deck, this role was not Jirachi (HL 8)'s, but Jirachi (DX 9)'s.
This change brings me several good effects: (1) can save using Rare Candy and have more chances to use Chilling Breath, (2) can remove Warp Energy from this deck and employ Multi Energy and Jirachi ex.

Surprise! Time Machine
Surprise! Time Machine is one of the ways to use Chilling Breath repeatedly.
You can smoothly switch Walrein ex (PK 99) that used Chilling Breath to an attacker Walrein ex (LM 89).
Walrein ex devolves to Sealeo if it had evolved from Spheal via Rare Candy, but it would be preferable for using Chilling Breath again on your next turn.
When you need 70-90 damages to take a KO, you may switch Walrein ex (LM 89) with 2 Energy to Walrein ex (PK 99) and attach an Energy to it, then use Wreck!
It is also effective to heal Special Conditions such as Confusion by Stantler (UF 32)'s Screechy Voice.

Note: You cannot use Chilling Breath when evolved by using Surprise! Time Machine.

Super Scoop Up
Super Scoop Up is the another way to use Chilling Breath repeatedly.
Even though it requires a coin flip, it is still powerful and would work as a proxy not only for Devolution Spray but also for Switch and Max Potion.

Crystal Beach
Crystal Beach is a strong meta-card for Holon's Castform (HP 40) and Scramble Energy, that are definitely powerful Energy cards and form the unique environment of RS-PK format including colorful "Good Stuff" decks.
However 2 Crystal Beach may look a small number, it can keep longer than you think because Chilling Breath prevents your opponent from using Windstorm and other Stadium cards.
For almost the same reason, this deck employs only 2 Windstorm, a meta-card for Cessation Crystal.

Options

Sealeo (HL 47)
Sealeo (HL 47)'s Super Icy Wind would be useful to KO benched Basic Pokémon that has 50 HP combined with Water Arrow.
Even though you don't have many chances to use Skull Bash, 50 damages that can KO Latios ex (DF 96) in 2 times looks good.
Not having Poké-Power/Body can be an advantage against like Rayquaza ex (DF 97)'s Special Circuit.

Spheal (LM 65)
Spheal (LM 65) is only Spheal that has 50 HP and that number is the largest for Spheal in RS-PK format.
Considering Surprise! Time Machine, I think the larger HP the better.

Spheal (HL 74)
Spheal (HL 74)'s Freezing Breath has a 75% chance of stopping your opponent's attack.
It means that Spheal may open a path to break through Dragonite ex (DF 91)'s Deafen and Latios ex (DF 96)'s Ice Barrier.

Thanks to erikreeds and LittleRiver for their comments!

Mew (POP5 3)
Mew would be worth against Sceptile ex (CG 96) and Scizor ex (UF 108) as a Fire-type attacker.
Players who don't have Mew (including me!) need to use Water Arrow quickly to KO Treecko before it evolves to Sceptile ex.
Among "Copy family," Ditto (DS 38) of Psychic-type would be also useful option against Latios ex (DF 96), Gardevoir (DS 6) and Gardevoir ex (DF 93).

Note: In Japan, you can choose Ilene's Mime Jr. (Japanese Movie Set exclusive) instead of Ditto.

Latias (HP 11)
Latias (with Latios ex) can shut off unpleasant Poké-Bodies such as Dugtrio (CG 5)'s Sand Veil and Ninetales (HL 22)'s Safeguard.

Walrein (HL 15)
The remaining Walrein is one of the extra options.
It would work as a non-ex attacker against Latios ex (DF 96) and Pokémon that has Safeguard.

Conclusion

If you have an interest in this deck, feel free to copy and play it.
I hope to hear your thoughts and advance this deck, and the environment of RS-PK format!

Thanks for reading!
