〇二極化

　It has long been said that the income of the Japanese people is polarizing. But even before that, the polarization of junior high and high school students was in progress. I am acutely aware of this when I teach entrance examinations at cram schools. There is no way I can teach a junior high school student, whose fractional calculations are questionable, and a junior high school student, who is studying high school content, in the same classroom.

　There is no way that a high school student who is aiming for Kyoto University or Nagoya University and a high school student who is aiming for a university no one knows the name of can be taught in a single class. That is why cram schools that offered simultaneous classes went bankrupt a long time ago (although they still exist in the countryside), and only individual tutoring cram schools are available.

　When we do standardized tests, the graph used to be curved like a normal curve, but now it tends to be a two-humped curve like a camel's back. In other words, the bottom group and the top group are neatly divided. Even in this area, there is a division into two types of high schools: those with higher education classes, such as Shiko High School, Kuwa High School, and Kawagoe High School, and those with both higher education and employment classes, such as Kuwa West and Inabe Sogo High School.

　日本国民の所得が二極化していると言われて久しい。しかし、その前から中学生や高校生の二極化が進行していたのですよ。塾で受験指導をしていると痛感します。分数計算も怪しい中学三年生と、高校の内容を勉強している中学三年生を同じ教室で指導できるわけがない。

　高校生だって「京大」や「名大」をめざしている子と、名前を誰も知らない大学をめざしている子を一斉授業で指導できるわけがない。だから、塾はとうの昔に一斉授業の塾は倒産して（田舎にはまだ存在する）個別指導塾ばかりになったのですね。

　統一テストをすると、昔はグラフが正規曲線のようなカーブを描いていたのに今はラクダの背中のような二こぶ曲線になりがち。つまり、下の集団と上の集団がきれいに分かれる。この地区でも、四高・桑高・川越の進学校と桑西・イナベ総合のような進学・就職クラスが併設されている高校に分かれている。
