Day 5 : Yacht and Tea

Inspired by Masa Suzuki, a Mini Transat 2019 challenger, and his wife, Noriko "Tea" Suzuki...

I had a chance to attend a session last night of Masa Suzuki, who is challenging Mini Transat 2019, a solo transatlantic yacht race from France to the Caribbean island, in this Autumn.

I literally did not know anything about this yacht race, because I have almost never been on Yacht, and never been to see the race.
But as one of my community members, "Tea" is his wife, and our community guru decided to have his session at his community site.

This man is amazing!
It's not just because he is the only one Japanese who is qualified for the 84 racers for this race.
He is so energetic, passionate, and at the same time very modest in the session where he was trying to tell us how yachting is fascinating and fun.

I was most attracted by him when he was explaining us why he pursues yachting. Here in Japan, yachting is almost limited for the richer people, but in the other European countries it is not so limited and he believes it could be more open to more ordinary people. He likes to change this perception and then situation among the Japanese people by his challenges!

So I really enjoyed his session.
Of course, his wife was also there, sometimes commenting on her husband's activities. She is also nice, as she has been very supportive of him, even though his yachting activities have some risks. I definitely think that her backup is most necessary for his challenge to be continuously successful.

I believe she is such a woman of character that she has made more than slight effort to keep being calmly supportive, and I think that has some relation with her hobby.
"Tea" is her nickname, and that's because she loves making tea and having tea ceremony, and that could possibly make her calm and steady continuously. This is just my hypothesis, though...

Anyhow, I am starting to support Masa Suzuki from last night, looking forward to checking how his race will be going after he embark for the ocean!!
