Day 178: First business day

January 6th was the first business day of 2020 in Japan, followed by the consecutive 3 days off, Saturday, and Sunday.

On the first day, the business persons greet each other for celebrating a new year and wishing the relationship could last for another year.
At big and traditional companies, there is a ceremony of Ritsurei (立礼), bowing while standing by senior executives.

The front pic is from Sendai Advertising Agencies Association's new year ceremony last year.

The same type of ceremony is held at big and traditional companies in Japan...
They stand in front of gold-painted folding screen to meet with their clients and partners to greet each other.

The problem is, the bigger the company, the more people come to greet, the less time they meet...
This means, they just greet for 30 seconds, and if there are very many people come at the same time, they need to make a long line.
Sometimes, 30 minutes waiting and then 30 seconds to greet...

This is a tradition, and I believe it's great to meet in face to face, more often than not.
But I do not know if we could keep having this tradition forever...

Quote of the day
“We are loved way more by some of the people who have not contacted us in the last twelve or so months than we are loved by some of those who contact us every twelve or so days … or hours.”
