WSJ Minute Briefing - Employers’ Family Health Insurance Holds Steady Around $22,000

The average cost of employer health coverage for a US family held steady at around 22,000 this year. That’s according to the non-profit Kaiser family foundation's latest survey, which showed that upward pressure on healthcare costs hasn't yet broadly translated into higher premiums. Analysts say this is likely to change next year when a rise in the cost of Labor and supplies is expected to be reflected in higher prices for medical services.

Sources say the Tesla CEO on Tuesday sent what's known as a borrowing notice to the lenders that agreed to provide him with the funds, so that Musk can carry out the 44 billion dollar transaction after final closing conditions are met. Musk yesterday tweeted a video that showed him on a visit to Twitter, San Francisco headquarters.

Samsung electronics posted a roughly 24% decline in third quarter net profit, as a result of a widespread slowdown in demand for memory chips, which are used in smartphones, PCs, and other tech products. Also, the South Korean company formally appointed JY Lee, the grandson of Samsung's founder, as executive chairman.

Asian stocks ended the day mixed, well European shares were mostly lower in early trading. And Apple, Amazon, Comcast, Intel, and McDonald's are among the companies set to report earnings today.
