ビジネス英語とは一体何でしょうか？ 

ビジネス英語に関して、世界的な定義はありません。ビジネス英語は、特定用語、表現、文法で構成されていて、様々なビジネス状況を処理することを可能にします。

謙譲語 (Humble Language) 

ビジネスの場では、現在のことについて話し合うときに、過去形(past tense)と受動態(passive voice)を使うことがよくあります。過去形と受動態を使用すると、間接的になり、謙虚に聞こえます。　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　

例文　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　                                    Would you mind if I asked you a question? (過去形)
少々、伺ってもいいですか／聞いてもいいですか？　　

I was hoping you could give me an answer by the end of today. (過去形)
今日中に返事が欲しいと思っていたところなんです。

I am afraid to say that your application has been rejected. (受身形)
申し訳ありませんが、お申し込みは却下されました。

ビジネスシーン (Business Situations) 

A. 会議をする (Holding meetings) 

I would be grateful if …. (～していただければ幸いです)                                例: I would be grateful if you could inform us of your decision by Friday next week.                                                                                                                  もし、来週の金曜日までにお知らせ頂ければ助かります。

I would appreciate it if... (~していただければ幸いです)　　                          例: I would appreciate if you could extend the payment deadline.支払い期日を延期して頂ければ助かります。
　　　　　

B. 考えを述べる (Giving Opinions/Making Suggestions)

In my opinion…. (私個人の意見では)                                                              例: In my opinion, the first suggestion/plan would be difficult to implement because of our limited budget.
私の意見は、予算が限られているため、最初の提案を実行するのは難しいと思っています。

From my point of view... (私の観点からすると)                                          例: From my point of view, Singapore could be a good place for our next global expansion plan.
私の考えは、シンガポールは、次のグローバル展開計画に適した場所になる可能性があります。

C. 反論する (Disagreeing with Someone) 

I agree with you up to a point...(あなたにある程度は同意します)　　　　　例: I agree with you to a point, but I’m afraid we cannot agree to the terms of the contract.
ある程度は賛成ですが、契約条件は賛成できません。             

I take/see your point... (あなたの言いたいことは分かる）
例: I see/take your point, but I don’t think there’s anything we can do at the moment.
お話の要点は分かりましたが、現時点でできることは何もないと思います。

現在、世界で17.5 億人が有用なレベルで英語を話します。そのため、ビジネス英語が向上すれば、雇用の機会がどんどん増えます！
