モノの価値は何で決まるんだろうか？

パイレーツの遊撃手として活躍し、米野球殿堂入りしているホーナス・ワグナーの野球カード「T206」が4日（日本時間5日）、スポーツカード史上最高額を更新する725万ドル（約9億7900万円）で落札された。ゴールディンオークションズが発表した。
過去最高は昨年8月に同カードが記録した660万ドル（約8億9100万円）だった。
T206は50から60枚ほどしか現存しておらず、希少性が高い。

同じカードが１年間で６５万ドルも値上がりしている。一枚しかない絵画ならまだしも、複数枚存在する、カードのたった一枚だけに、そのような値段がつくことが不思議である。よく経済学史に登場する、オランダのチューリップ投機も不思議なことではあったのだが。

私が思い出すカードというと、仮面ライダーカードである。

仮面ライダースナックという菓子に、ヒーローの仮面ライダーや、悪役怪人のカードが同封されていた。小学生の男の子たちにとても人気があった。

中身を食べずに、カードだけ抜いて、道路に捨てられたりしたので、当時問題になった。ひょっとして、そのような連中が大人になって、道路にマスクを捨てているのだろうか？

オークションサイトを見ると、仮面ライダーカードは高いものでもだいたい数万円で取引されている。ちなみに日本のプロ野球選手のカードの最高額は、この記事によると、松井秀喜さんのカードの503千円だという。

ホーナス・ワグナー選手の野球カードの値段と比べると、つつましいものである。もし、大谷翔平選手の希少なカードか何かが今後現れたら、どんな価値がつくだろうか？
