So, I'd like to tell you about what I wanted to be when I grew up.
じゃあ、大人になったら何になりたいと思っていたのかについて話すわ。
✎ I want to ~ when I grow up → I wanted to ~ when I grew up（時制の一致）

So all through my childhood around (I'm like five..) when I was 5 to when I was about 15, I loved to draw.
子供の頃ずっと、だいたい5歳から15歳ぐらいまで、絵を描くのが大好きだった。

I used to draw a lot.
たくさん絵を描いたわ。
✎ used to ~ ＝ 以前はよく～したものだった

Umm…, growing up, we lived in a huge house.
子供の頃は、すごく大きな家に住んでいたの。
✎ growing up, ＝（分詞構文）成長しながら、成長している間、子供の頃

It was like a duplex and we had neighbours.
二世帯用住宅みたいになっていて、隣りには別の人たちが住んでいた。

And so after school when I got home, I would grab my pad, grab my pen or a pencil, I would go outside in front of this big house, I remember, and I would start drawing.
学校が終わって家に帰ると、私は画板とペンか鉛筆を持ってその大きな家の前に行き、絵を描き始めたものよ。

What am I drawing? I was drawing the house.
何を描いていたのかって？ 家を描いていたのよ。

And you know, I would make it into a 3D, I would put the shadows.
立体的に描いたり、影をつけたりもしていた。

I would make it look very realistic.
かなりリアルに描いていたのよ。

I really, really, really enjoyed this.
すごく楽しかった。

It was very time-consuming but I think in life you discover that whatever seems time-consuming, time actually really flies if you enjoy it.
それはとても時間のかかる作業だったけど、どんな大変そうに見える作業も、楽しんでやれば時間はあっという間に経っちゃうわ。
✎ time-consuming ＝ 時間のかかる、手間取る
✎ Time flies. ＝ 時間はあっと言う間、時が経つのは早い

So time flew really fast.
時間が経つのはあっという間だったわ。

Also, I remember I used to enter competitions, drawing competitions.
それから、いろんなコンテストに応募したことも覚えているわ。

Umm, and so I realized that “oh wow, I really love art” and so, when I grow up I want to be an architect or an artist.
それで、自分はアートが大好きだということに気がついたの。大きくなったら建築家かアーティストになりたいなって。

So that's one thing that I wanted to be.
それが、私がなりたかったものの一つ。

Another thing that I really, really, really wanted to be when I grew up was a singer-songwriter.
もう一つ、子供の頃すごくなりたかったのは、シンガーソングライター。

I love music. Music is everything.
私は音楽を愛してる。音楽はまさに私のすべてよ。

I think if there was no music in the world, the world just wouldn't make sense, and that's how I see music.
もしこの世に音楽というものがなかったら、この世界に何の意味があるのか分からないわ。私にとって音楽はそれほどのものなの。

So, I love to sing. I still sing. So, growing up I sung (sang) a lot.
私は歌うことが大好き。今でも歌ってるわ。もちろん子供の頃はよく歌ってた。
✎ sung は sing の過去分詞。正しくは sang。

I would come home again after school, I would put my favourite CDs on.
学校が終わって家に帰ってくると、決まってお気に入りのCDをかけるの。
✎ put music on, put on music ＝ 音楽をかける

And what I would do actually is create new words to match the melody.
そして、そのメロディーに合う新しい歌詞を自分で作るの。

So I wouldn't sing along.
曲に合わせて歌うことはしなかった。

✎ sing along with ~ ＝ 人に合わせて歌う

I would let the music play and I would read all the words that I have replaced with actual words, then I would sing along.
音楽をかけて、もともとの歌詞の代わりに作った新しい歌詞を読みながら、それに合わせて歌っていたの。
✎ replace A with B ＝ Aの代わりにBを置く、AをBと取り替える
正しくは、all the words that I have replaced actual words with。

These are my words. That was really, really fun.
その歌詞は私自身の言葉。とっても楽しかった。

And so I decided at that point, that I wanted to be a singer when I grew up and a songwriter.
だから、その頃は大人になったら歌手、それからソングライターになりたいと心に決めていたの。

So I guess the question is “Am I an artist now?”, “Am I a singer?”, “Am I a songwriter?”, “Am I an architect?”.
じゃあ、いま私はアーティストでしょうか？歌手でしょうか？ソングライターでしょうか？建築家でしょうか？

Well… no. But, I still do these things for fun.
違います。でも、今でも趣味で続けています。

I sing for fun. I sing almost every day.
ただ楽しむために歌っています。ほとんど毎日歌います。

My neighbour… I think she's used to it now... I think.

Do I write songs?
今でも歌を作ってるかって？

I don't really have much time, but one fun fact about me is songs do come to me in my dreams.
そこまでの時間はないけれど、実は一つ面白いことがあるの。夢の中で歌が舞い降りてくるの。

Melodies, the words, everything comes to me in my dreams.
メロディー、歌詞、すべてが夢の中で浮かんでくるの。

If I'm not too tired, I wake myself up and I record it on my phone, and I listen to it when I wake up.
そんなに疲れていなければ、目が覚めたときに携帯でその歌を録音するの。で、あとできちんと起きてから聴くの。

If I'm really, really tired I let it go and then I wake up and I regret it.
すごく疲れてるときは、それをやらずに起きてから後悔するの。

Am I an artist or an architect?
じゃあ、私はアーティストか建築家でしょうか？

No, but I do like to design.
違います。でもデザインをするのは大好きです。

I design on the computer umm, and I appreciate art and I just respect anyone that is creative by nature.
コンピューターを使ってデザインをしています。そして、アートを楽しみ、生まれつきクリエイティブな人をすごく尊敬しています。

So, even though I'm not an architect by profession or a singer by profession, I still engage in these activities because these are the things I enjoy and I will forever enjoy these. Yes.
仕事として建築家や歌手をしてはいないけれど、今でも取り組んでいるわ。だってやってて楽しいことだから。ずっと続けるわ。うん。
