Okay, so this is a story about my childhood when I was young growing up.
オッケー、じゃあ僕が幼いころにあった話をするよ。
So, I'm about two years old in this story.
当時の僕はだいたい２歳くらい。
And, I've just been running around a massive park with lots of trees.
たくさん木のある大きな公園を走り回ってた。
Ah, here in New Zealand, you know, where parents are a bit more, you know, lenient.
ニュージーランドでは、親は割と子供に自由にやらせる。
And they let me run around this park.
僕の両親も公園で僕を好きに遊ばせてた。
And it got to the end of the day and my mum got me back into the car.
帰る時間になって、母は僕を車に乗せた。
And I was sort of making a choking noise.
そのとき僕は喉に何か詰まったような音を立てていた。
And, you know, a sort of gurgling in my throat.
うがいをするときのような音を立てていたんだ。
She was a bit worried.
母は少し心配になった。
And so dad was in the driver's seat, so he pulled over.
父は運転席にいたんだけど、そこで車を止めた。
And mum got out of the car, and she comes around to the backseat.
母は車を降りて、後部座席に回り込んだ。
And I'm sort of still choking and so she sort of opens my mouth up and looks inside my mouth.
僕はまだ喉から音を立てていたので、母は僕の口を開けて覗き込んだ。
And it's just black!
すると口の中に黒いものが見えた。
The roof of my mouth is just completely black and she freaks out.
口の上側が真っ黒で、母はパニックになった。
She's like, “Oh, my god! Oh, my god!”
「オーマイガー! オーマイガー!」
And she says to my dad,
母は父に向かって言った。
“It's just black! The roof of his mouth is completely black. What's happening?”
「真っ黒なの！口の上側が完全に黒いの！何が起こってるの？」
And she calls the doctor and she says,
母は医者に電話して言った。
“Doctor, like, (the son..) the roof of my son's mouth is completely black.
「ドクター、息子の口の中が真っ黒なんです。」
I don't know what to do! I don't know what’s happening!
「どうしたらいいの？何が起こってるのか分からない！」
(He's..) He’s choking on something in his mouth.”
「口の中で何か詰まらせているんです。」
And, you know, the doctor says,
医者は答えた。
“Don't freak out. Everything's going to be okay.
「落ち着いて下さい。大丈夫ですから。」
We're going to find out what's happening.”
「何が起こっているのか確認しましょう。」
And she keeps looking into the roof of my mouth and she can't see anything.
母は僕の口の中をのぞき込んだけれど、何も見つからない。
And the doctor says, “Have you ever seen anything like this before?
医者「以前も同じようなことがありましたか？」
Have you ever looked at the roof of his mouth?”
「息子さんの口の上部を見たことがありますか？」
And she goes, “No, no, I haven't. This is the first time.
母「いいえ、ありません。これが初めてです。」
Are you telling me (she..) he might not have a roof to his mouth?
「もしかして、息子には口の上部がないってことですか？」
He's never had a roof to his mouth?”
「もともと口の上部がないってことですか？」
And the doctor says, “Oh no, that's not possible. It can't be.
医者「いえいえ、そんなことはありえません。」
(We’ll..) We’ll have to check. We have to investigate.” and,
「まずは原因を確認しなければ。」
“So.., is there anyone confident enough to stick their finger in his mouth?”
「誰か息子さんの口に指を入れることはできますか？」
And my dad says, “Okay, you know, (I will..) I'll stick my finger in his mouth.”
父「よし、じゃあ俺が指を入れるよ。」
And so he walks around the back of the car and he (comes..) comes to me.
父は後部座席に回り込んで僕のそばに座った。
I'm crying. I'm freaking out because my parents are freaking out.
僕は泣いていた。パニック状態の親を見て自分も怖くなったんだ。
And he sort of reaches around and he opens my mouth and he sticks his finger in.
父は僕の正面に移動し、僕の口を開け指を突っ込んだ。
And he starts to rub (the roof of my..) the roof of my mouth and he starts to feel it peeling away.
父は僕の口の上部をこすり始めると、皮膚がはがれるような感覚を得た。
And he, he goes, “Oh, my god! The roof of his mouth is peeling away!
父「オーマイガー! 口の中の皮膚がはがれてきた！」
What do I do? Doctor, it's coming off! Doctor, (he's, he’s..) it’s coming off!”
「どうしよう？ドクター、はがれそうです！」
And he keeps peeling it away, and peeling it away.
そのまま少しずつ動かし続けた。
And then, he starts to pull it out.
すると何かが口から出てきた。
And it's black.
黒い何かが。
And he keeps pulling it out, all of a sudden it comes right out.
そのまま引っ張ると、それは突然口から出てきた。
And it's a leaf,
葉っぱだったんだ。
a leaf from the park.
公園の葉っぱ。
As a young child, I must have gone and eaten a leaf.
幼かったから、僕は葉っぱを食べちゃったんだ。
And it had stuck to the roof of my mouth and I was choking on it.
それが口の上部に張りついて喉を詰まらせてしまった。
And they just looked in my mouth and saw (black..) blackness.
両親は僕の口の中を見たけれど黒いものしか見えなかった。
And they didn't know what it was and freaked out.
で、訳が分からずパニックになったんだ。
And that's a funny story of my childhood.
