Hi! So I'd like to tell you a story about when I was traveling through Europe.
やあ。では、僕がヨーロッパを旅行していたときの話をしよう。

I was coming from Germany on a train and (I was..) I was by myself.
僕はドイツから列車に乗って移動していた。一人で。

I was coming into Poland and I was coming through to get a connecting train.
ポーランドに入り、駅の中を抜けて乗り継ぎ列車に乗り換えることにしていた。
✎ come through ~ ＝ 〜を通り抜ける
✎ connecting train ＝ 乗り継ぎ列車

And so my eventual destination was going to be Wroclaw in Poland and so (my..) the train that I was on coming from Germany was late.
最終的な行き先はポーランドのヴロツワフの予定だった。そして、僕がドイツから乗った列車は時間より遅れていた。
✎ eventual ＝ 結果として起こる、最後の、結局の

So I knew that once I arrived at the train station I would have to go pretty fast to my joining train (and..) and jump on that pretty quickly.
だから、駅に着いたらすぐに次の列車に移動し、素早く飛び乗る必要があることは分かっていた。
✎ joining train ＝ 正しくは、connecting train

So as we pulled into the station I jumped off my train and headed straight to the board, where it showed you (which..) which train was at which platform.
それで、電車が駅に着いたら僕は素早く下車して掲示板の方へ直行した。どの列車が何番線から出発するかが表示されている掲示板の方に。
✎ pull into ＝ (電車が)駅に入る、(車が)～に寄る
✎ head (straight) to ~ ＝ 〜へ(まっすぐ)向かう

So I got there.
But of course in Poland, everything is in Polish.
案内板のところについた。
でも当然ポーランドではすべてポーランドで書かれている。

And coming from New Zealand I did not know any Polish whatsoever.
ニュージーランドの人間だから、僕にはまったくポーランド語が分からない。

(As I..) As I was approaching the platform with my bag on my back running along, I noticed both trains starting to depart on either side of the platform, sort of, Platform 1, Platform 2.
荷物を背中に背負ってプラットフォームまで走って行くと、１番線と２番線の列車が両方とも出発しようとしていることに気づいた。
✎ run along ＝ ある方向に向かって走る（alongが入っているが「〜に沿って」という意味ではない。）

And I saw the sign, one sign with a Polish word starting in ‘w’, ending in ‘w’, and another, on the other platform, the other train starting in ‘w’ and ending in a ‘w’.
そして行き先表示を見ると、一方はWで始まりWで終わるポーランド語、そして反対のプラットフォームにもWで始まりWで終わるポーランド語だった。
✎ start in (with) ~ ＝ 〜で始まる
✎ end in (with) ~ ＝ 〜で終わる
※スペルについて話すとき、正式には start with が正しいが start in も一般的によく使われる。

However, what I didn't realize is that Wroclaw and Warsaw are both cities in Poland and they both start with a ‘w’ and end in a ‘w.’
ところが、ヴロツワフとワルシャワは両方ともポーランドにある都市で、両方ともスペルがWで始まりWで終わることを僕は知らなかった。
✎ Warsaw ＝ ワルシャワ（ポーランドの首都）

I assumed that the train on the north of the tracks would continue going north and the train on the south of the tracks, would continue traveling south (and..) and depart that way.
僕は北側線路の列車は北方向へ進み、南側線路の列車は南側へ進みそっち方面へ出発すると思った。
✎ assume ＝ 思いこむ、決めてかかる、推測する
✎ track ＝ 線路、軌道、通路

So because I wanted to go south I jumped on this train and I jumped on there, felt very comfortable and I was like, I think I made the best decision, like, I used logic (I was..) I was very straightforward in my thinking.
僕は南方面へ行きたかったのでこっち側の列車に乗り込んだ。列車に乗り込んでとても気持ちが楽になった。最善の判断をしたと思った。論理的思考をして、ストレートに答えを導き出したと。
✎ comfortable ＝ 快適な、気持ちよい、ゆとりのある
✎ straightforward ＝ まっすぐな、正直な、率直な

Sat down, and I turned to my fellow passenger and said “Ah, I'm so glad we're heading to Wroclaw.”
僕は座席に腰掛けて、乗り合わせた乗客に向かって言った。「ああ、ヴロツワフ方面へ向かうことができてよかった。」
✎ fellow passenger ＝ 同乗者

And the passenger turned to me and said, “This is for Warsaw.”
するとその乗客は僕の方を向いて言った。「これはワルシャワ行きですよ。」

And it was just at that point that the trains changed over in tracks and the one (that was..) I thought was going south, ended up going north. And the one (going..) I thought was going north, ended up going south.
ちょうどそのとき列車は線路上で交差した。南へ行くと思った列車は北方面へ進み、北へ行くと思った列車は南方面へ進んで行ってしまったんだ。
✎ end up ~ing ＝ 〜してしまう、最終的には〜で終わる

End of the day, it completely, kind of, changed my whole holiday and I had to change my whole plans because of it.
結局、僕の予定は完全に狂ってしまい、スケジュールを変更しなければならなくなった。

But it was an exciting adventure nonetheless.
にもかかわらず、エキサイティングな体験だったよ。
