徳川家康公は駿府の防衛的側面から寺院を一カ所に集め「寺町」を作りました。

江戸時代初期に家康公が定めた寺町は20世紀になり大きく変わりました。

The central district of Buddhist temples was called ‘Tera machi’ or Buddhist temples’ district.

仏教寺院の中心地区は「寺町」と呼ばれました。

Even in the modern period, these temples were still located there.

近代に入ってからも、これらの寺院はまだその同じ場所にありました。

However, Shizuoka had a big fire twice in 1940 and 1945.

しかし1940年と1945年、静岡には大火がありました。

The first was caused by the Shizuoka big fire and the latter was during the air raid in WW2.

最初は静岡大火、そして次は第2次大戦下の静岡大空襲で起こりました。

After WW2, most of these Buddhist temples were relocated into Kutsunoya, Aoi Ward due to Shizuoka’s new city design.

戦後、これらの仏教寺院のほとんどは静岡の新しい都市計画のため、葵区の沓谷に移転されました。

In fact, there are 11 Buddhist temples lined up in one location on both sides of a street in Kutsunoya.

事実、沓谷の通りの両側に11の寺院が一カ所に並んでいます。

The vacant land was turned into Tokiwa Park, which is now used as an area where locals can relax.　

空き地は常盤公園になりました。ここは地元の人々がくつろげる空間になっています。

Tera Machi no longer exists, and a part of the district has been renamed Tokiwa-cho, and some are the other districts.

寺町は今やもうありませんが、この地区は常磐町そして他の町内になりました。

Nowadays, the fire prevention zone stretches from Tokiwa Park to the Aoi Ward Office downtown in Aoi Ward.

現在、防火地帯が常盤公園から葵区の中心部にある葵区役所まで伸びています。

The zone is called ‘ Aoba Symbol Road’, which also holds many events to attract people.

そのゾーンは「青葉シンボルロード」と呼ばれ、そこでは人々を引き付ける多くのイベントも行われています。
