静岡は大御所・徳川家康公が生涯一番長い時間を過ごした場所。駿府は天才都市デザイナー徳川家康公の作品と言えるかもしれません。現代の静岡を歩いて江戸時代の駿府を楽しむためにこちらを見に行くのはいかがでしょうか。札ノ辻交差点、静岡伊勢丹の筋向いに「駿府鳥瞰図」があります。
Sumpu Bird's-eye view Part 1
駿府鳥瞰図 パート１
It is considered that the Sumpu Bird's-eye view was drawn around 1708 by viewing the city of Sumpu from about Tokugan-ji Temple.
駿府鳥瞰図は1708年頃徳願寺付近から駿府の街を眺めて描かれたものと考えられています。
This bird’s-eye view teaches many things to us, the present Shizuoka residents who live after 300 years of this map.
この鳥瞰図は300年後に生きている現在の静岡の住民にたくさんのことを教えてくれます。
It is showcased on the wall of the Fudanotsuji Building at the intersection of Fudanotsuji.
それは札ノ辻の交差点にある札ノ辻ビルの壁に展示されています。

First, the base of Shizuoka City is the same as the one developed in the Edo period.
第一に、静岡市の基礎は江戸時代に作られたものと同じです。
We, Shizuoka people are still using roads and streets that were constructed under Lord Ieyasu’s ruling period.
私たち静岡の人々は未だに家康公の治世に作られた道を使っています。
東海道でもあるこの道も家康公の治世に開発された
In the Edo period, it was said that the city of Sumpu had five turnings on the Tokaido.
江戸時代には駿府の街には東海道の五曲がりがあると言われました。
The five corners are almost the same as the present-day ones.
その五つの交差点は現在のものとほぼ同じです。
１．伝馬町 ２．呉服町 ３．札ノ辻 ４．人宿町 ５．新通
From north, the intersections were Tenma-cho, Gofuku-cho, Fudanotsuji , Hitoyado-cho and Shin-Tori.
北から順にその角は、伝馬町、呉服町、札ノ辻、人宿町そして新通でした。
Second, the map tells us one of the most characteristic points as the city designed by Lord Ieyasu.
第2にその地図は家康公により設計されたこの街として最も特徴的な点の一つを示しています。
It is ‘machiwari’, which literally means the division of towns and streets.
それは「町割り」です。文字通り、町や通りを分けるという意味です。
The commoners' areas in Sumpu were subdivided into 100 sqm blocks.
駿府における庶民の地域は100メートル四方に区分けされました。
