この30年ちょっとの間、多くの日本人は不況に苦しみ、普通に生活する機会を奪われてきた。この期間は失われた30年と呼ばれている。
A large number of people living in Japan have suffered from severe depressions and have been deprived of opportunities to lead a satisfactory life during these 30 years or so, which is called “lost 30 years.”

この原因の１つとして、政府による政策がうまく機能していないことが挙げられる。例えば富の分配が公平ではない。金持ちはますます金持ちになる。
One of the serious causes is that our government’s policies cannot function successfully in our society.
For instance, the distribution of wealth has been done unequally : a rich person becomes much richer and so is a huge corporation.

つまり公的資金は社会福祉のために使われていない。それよりも政府に資金援助をする人や団体を優先する制度が強化されている。庶民は税金を払うだけで見返りがない。
After all, public fund collected by our taxes hasn’t been spent to make social welfare helpful in our society.
Instead, the government has prioritized an organization or a person who can support themselves financially, which might force ordinary people to pay heavy burdens without expecting something supportive in return.

This reason can make the idea described above unfavorable.
