ほとんど全ての学校に生徒に制服を着用させる規定がある。経済的には家計に優しいので好意的に受けとめている保護者は多い。制服を自体はそんなに安くはないのだが。
Almost all schools in Japan have the dress code that all students should wear the same uniform, which has been accepted favorably by many parents because this system is friendly to their family budget although the price of uniform is expensive.

また生徒の中にも制服を着ることは彼らの生活にプラスの影響があると言う者が多い。もしなかったら何を着るべきか迷って時間を無駄にするとのこと。
Some students say that this dress code makes positive contributions to their life because they need not waste their precious time in the morning.
They would waste it without this system because they cannot decide which clothes to put on in a short time.

しかし制服を着て登校するルールには当然ながらデメリットもある。全ての生徒が同じ格好をしているのを欧米人が見るとその光景は普通ではないと感じる。
Naturally, this dress code has a crucial disadvantage : people from overseas find the scene extraordinary when they watch all the students wearing the same clothes.

なぜなら個性が感じられないからである。日本社会は異質なものを排除する傾向がある。制服を着る習慣があることは、その傾向に拍車をかけている。
Their feelings are that they cannot feel each student’s personality, who are deprived of an opportunity to employ their own abilities.
Japan has a traditional tendency to eliminate something different, including foreign people, which has maintained the idea that all the students should wear the same uniform for a long time.

他人と同じことをしていては違いを作ることはできない。日本の学校教育は生徒たちに、違うことは間違ってないのだと積極的に教えるべきである。
Doing the same as others do cannot make a difference, which is a famous phrase by a famous president.
Japanese education should encourage students to do what others are unlikely to do in a positive way.
