定期購読サービスはコスパがいい。評価の高い会社は複数ある。コンテンツは重なるので２社同時に契約することはない。独自の連ドラを制作して同業者にレンタルする会社もある。
A subscription service makes us save money because we don’t have to pay more than a certain amount of fee in a month, which we can call a superior cost performance.
There are several companies with extremely persuasive reputations, but we usually contract one of them since they have shared the same contents.
One of such companies have produced their own original drama series, so that they could lend several of them to other professions, which might be profitable.

10年前にアメリカから始まったらしい老舗の会社は独自コンテンツが人気だ。相撲界の闇を暴露するものや大物芸人の昔の苦労を描いたものもある。人気の漫画を実写化したのもある。
One of them, we hear, started this service about a decade ago, and it has been popular due to its original contents : a drama series describes Japanese Sumo Wrestling Business in detail, which might be a kind of exposure, or another describes a big entertainer’s biography with his pains and efforts in the past.
Also a drama series was made into a live action film due to its explosive popularity, we assume.

これらは月に1000円程度なので家計にも優しい。レンタルビデオ店でこれだけ借りたら10万円はかかりそうだ。観ようと思えば何度も観れる。２ヶ月も観たら飽きるので解約する。　
This subscription service costs us about 1000 yen, which is economical and friendly to our family budgets.
It would cost over 100 thousand yen when we rent these amounts of contents in a rental store.
Also we can watch the same movie over and over again if we wish, but it isn’t realistic.
When we continue to use the same subscription company for a couple of months, we would lose interest in it, so we have only to cancel the contract, which is a smart way of utilizing these service systems.

ビデオレンタルも全盛期は客で混雑していた。人気のものは返却を待たなくてはならなかった。大人専用のビデオの入り口には暖簾があったが、無防備に侵入するわけにはいかなかった。
A rental video shop used to be crowded with numerous customers in those days, and we called it a superior cost performance in 1990’s and 2000’s.
But we found it a little inconvenient because we weren’t able to watch a popular movie if it was currently on loan and we had to wait for it until it returned to the store.
In front of the section for adults only, there was a shop curtain to block others’ gaze, but we were extremely careful not to be witnessed by our acquaintances.

サブスクを採用しているお好み焼き店もある。月に3000円払えば平日限定だが800円が食べ放題だ。これだけ書くとメリットだらけだが、もちろんデメリットもあるので次に書きたい。
To our surprise, there is a okonomiyaki shop with a subscription system in our neighborhood.
We can eat a normal kind of dishes even every day except Saturdays and Sundays when we pay 3000 yen in advance at the beginning of the month.
The price of one piece of normal okonomiyaki is 800 yen, which is convenient for us, but we have no habit to eat such dishes every day, so it isn’t realistic.
Considering this, a subscription service seems to have only an advantages, but it isn’t the case, so I want to explain about the opposite aspect of this system.
