The Dream VS The reality

It is said, “the more children, the merrier” and also couples in Japan want to have 2 or 3 of their children. However, there is the fact that the birth rate is 1.4 last year and according to research, parents feel the happiest when their children leave home. Considering that, having many children is more difficult than merry.

The cost of raising children is a huge amount of money. The education cost will be over 30 million yen if the child only goes to only public schools from nursery to college. In addition to that, parents need living costs and some extra fees when taking care of their children. How can they earn such amount of money if parents have a lot of children in the situation that the government gives little support to parents who raise their children? Having more children makes parents become only poorer.

The mental burden is one of the problems parents suffer from. After having a baby, their private time has obviously decreased. Their responsibility when they take care of their children is beyond description. In addition, they seldom get support from others because they live themselves such as parents and children. As most parents work together, they might have no time to be relieved if their children are still young.

The physical toughness is also tough. The rate of getting married later is increasing in society nowadays. The average when women have a first baby in Japan is over 30 years old. It is hard to take care of babies while they work. If they have enough money, their physical strength is needed more than they have. It is one of the difficulties to have a lot of children.

It looks merry when we saw a big family. However, there are few people try to have a lot of children for some reason. Actually, having a lot of children is not just marry I suppose, but there might be some good impact on their lives.
