[地球一周15・16日目]イギリスはただでは帰れない・・・England can't go home for free ...

昨日は4時半に起きて、チェックアウトをして予約していたロンドンタクシーでヒースロー空港へ。揺れも少ないし新しめのタクシーで快適だったけど、運転手さんは何やらずっとお電話中でした笑
チェックインしようとしたら、「決済がうまくいってなくて航空券がとれてません」ということ。日本人のスタッフがたまたまいたので、ネットで再度購入しようとしたが、カードがうまく使えない・・・。カウンターに買いに行ったら、すでにNY行きは売り切れ。
しょうがないので、アメリカン航空経由でネットでブリティッシュエアウェイズの航空券を購入。
でも購入したものの、「確認中です」の画面のまま。Eチケットが発行されず、ブリティッシュエアウェイズのスタッフに「アメリカン航空のカウンターに航空券番号を確認して」とのこと。実はヒースロー空港はターミナルが5つあり、私はターミナル3と5の行き来と確認しても番号を確認できず、その便には乗れませんでした・・・。3時間前から準備してたのに、なんてこった。
ブリティッシュエアウェイズに再度確認して、そこでチケットを何とか別の便に変更（途中、何度も別のお客さんの確認が入って冷や冷やでしたが）。お兄さんが4つの時間の出発便を教えてくれてました。「オープンチケットだから、カウンターに確認して、席をとってね」と言われ・・・。本当に乗れるのか、今日はイギリスに一泊なのかという状況のなか何とか一番早い便にのれた。。
18時には着いたのですが、出発前にちゃんと荷物はこの飛行機に乗ってるか確認してなかった不安が・・・。一応お兄さんは乗った便に荷物も乗るからねと言ってたけど。頼む、次から確認するから今日は乗っててくれ。という願いが通じ、荷物は無事受け取れた。

タクシーでマンハッタンまで。市内は60km走行が基本で、道はガタガタで乗り心地はあれでしたが。ホステルの入り口は分かりにくかったけど、地元の子ども達が丁寧に教えてくれた、ありがとう！またホステルのスタッフさんも丁寧で無事チェックインできました。
今日はNY散策。セントラルパークやタイムズスクエアを歩きました。セントラルパークは4kmの長さ。映画の舞台に使わていた、セントラルパークの動物園の時計台を見れてよかった。タイムズスクエアは歩行者天国してて、出店あり。沢山の人で賑わってました。
街の匂いは、食べ物や排気ガスやゴミなど色々混ざってるような。東京に少し似てる気がします。
ブロードウェイ「アラジン」観てきました。
声量が大きいし、実際に空飛ぶ絨毯を使ったり、火花が散ったりと派手で迫力ある演出はアメリカな感じ。でも小道具がなんか大学祭感が・・・。ブロードウェイでは歌も多いせいか、ジーニーメインなのが面白いと感じました。色々な演出があり、好みがありますね。

NYのバス・地下鉄はApple Payやクレジットカードなどでも乗れるようですが、私はメトロカード7日乗り放題を購入。
行きのバスは途中の無料区間で戸惑いはしたけど、何とか行けた。
帰りは難関のNY地下鉄。Google mapで確認して乗ったけど、何だか？　乗客に聞いたら「違うわよ」はい、やっぱり。
通りすがりのおじさんに聞いたら、「アップタウンに行きたいんだね。向かいの通りの駅だよ」と言われました。
ほぉ、同じ駅名でもアップタウン行きとダウンタウン行きで別の場所から乗る必要があるのか。
そして、駅内は空気こもってて車内は何だかオイル臭い、なぜか天井から水が垂れてくるなど。

すっかり冒険家気分。とにかくNYに来れたことに感謝です。ヒースロー空港で対応してくれたvirgin atlanticの日本人スタッフさん、British airwaysのスタッフさん、「Follow me」とマツコデラックスのような貫禄の黒人スタッフさんなど道を教えてくれた沢山の皆さん。
本当にありがとうございました！

I got up at 4:30 yesterday and took a London taxi that I had checked out and booked to Heathrow Airport. There was little shaking and it was comfortable with a new taxi, but the driver was on the phone all the time lol

The Japanese staff happened to be there, so I tried to buy it again online, but I couldn't use the card well ... When I went to the counter to buy it, it was already sold out for NY. I can't help but buy a British Airways ticket online via American Airlines. However, although I purchased it, the "Confirming" screen remains. The E-ticket was not issued, and the British Airways staff said, "Check the ticket number at the American Airlines counter." Actually, Heathrow Airport has 5 terminals, and I couldn't confirm the number even if I confirmed that it was going back and forth between Terminals 3 and 5, so I couldn't take that flight ... I had been preparing for 3 hours, but it came.

I checked with British Airways again and managed to change my ticket to another flight (although it was chilly with another customer's confirmation on the way). a staff told me the departure flight for 4 hours. "It's an open ticket, so check with the counter and take a seat." I managed to get on the earliest flight in the situation of whether I could really get on or if I was staying overnight in England today. .. I arrived at 18:00, but I was worried that I hadn't confirmed that my luggage was on this plane before departure. For the time being, he said that it would also carry luggage on the flight you took. I'll check it from the next time, so please ride today. I was able to receive my luggage safely.

Take a taxi to Manhattan. The city was basically driven for 60km, and the road was rattling and the ride quality was that. The entrance to the hostel was confusing, but the local kids taught me politely, thank you! The hostel staff was also polite and able to check in safely. I took a walk in NY today. I walked around Central Park and Times Square. Central Park is 4km long. It was nice to see the clock tower at the zoo in Central Park, which was used for the movie stage. Times Square is a pedestrian paradise and has stores. It was crowded with many people. The smell of the city seems to be a mixture of food, exhaust gas and garbage. I think it's a bit like Tokyo. I've watched Broadway "Aladdin". The volume of voice is loud, and the flashy and powerful production of actually using a flying carpet and sparks is American. But the props feel like a university festival ... I found it interesting that Genie Maine was the main song, probably because there are many songs on Broadway. There are various productions, and you have your own taste.

It seems that you can get on buses and subways in NY with Apple Pay or credit cards, but I bought a metro card for 7 days. I was confused about the free bus to go, but I managed to get there. The return is the difficult NY subway. I checked it on Google map and got on it, but what is it? When I asked the passengers, "It's different" Yes, after all. When I asked my uncle who was passing by, he said, "you want to go uptown. It's the station on the opposite street." Hmmm, do I need to get on from different places for uptown and downtown even with the same station name? And the inside of the station is filled with air, the inside of the car smells like oil, and for some reason water drips from the ceiling.

I feel like an adventurer. Anyway, thank you for coming to NY. Many people who taught me the way, such as the Japanese staff of virgin atlantic who responded at Heathrow Airport, the staff of British airways, and the dignified black staff said "Follow me" such as Matsuko Deluxe etc... I'm really thankful to you!
