[地球一周24・25日目]washington→Florida

昨日はワシントン巡り。ホワイトハウスやリンカーンメモリアル、ワシントンモニュメント、国会議事堂などまわりました。たまにビルや壁に描かれている絵が何だか素敵。
とにかく統制がとれている、ホームレスは身綺麗だし治安の良さを肌で感じます。警官の姿を見るのもちらほら、また厳しい目つきではなく穏やかな感じがします。何より公共トイレが誰でも使えて綺麗で、トイレの案内が公園にあるだけでこんなに安心して観光できるんだと気付かされました。ワシントンでの路上演奏ではチューニングをしたり、という姿を見ました。一方、NYは気づいたらすぐはじまってる。NYの技術の高さは今いるお客さんを逃すことなく、生活の糧を得るための重要な手段なのだと感じました。

そしてバスの無料区間があると思ってましたが、実は違ってたことに気づいた・・・。NYではアップルペイやクレジットカードでも乗れたバスが、ワシントンは現金もしくは現地の交通系カードのみ。
そして両替ができない、なんて観光しにくいのか。1〜2ドル札を持っていない私のような観光客達に対して、運転手さんたちが時間の都合もあり、タダで乗せていてくれたのでした。実際、何度も「現金もってないよ、どうする」観光客が続出してました。
しかし掲示板があり、アナウンスが必ずある新しめなバスなのはありがたい。NYで遭遇した掲示板なし、アナウンスなしでバス停をぶっ飛ばしていく「私は今どこ？」状態にはならずにすむ。
海外では時間より早く来たり、遅く来たりが当たり前です。
行き先検索にはいつもGoogleマップを使っています。楽天モバイルがある程度快適に使えて助かっている・・・（海外で月2GBまで無料＋1GB500円〜で追加購入可能）。ワシントン大聖堂にも行ってきました。中世にタイムスリップしたかのようなお庭でゆっくりご飯を食べたり。そこまで人がいなかったので今日はお休みなんだと思って、来た道を帰ろうと。でも、何だか気になるなとついでに見て帰ろうと思って足を向けた場所が、実は正面玄関でした。私はどうやら裏門にいたようです。
ギリギリ閉館前に中に入れて、丁度パイプオルガンの荘厳な演奏を聴けました。イギリスで色々と大聖堂を見たけど、ダントツで一番美しさを感じた場所。夕暮れ時の太陽の光が何とも言えない絶妙な角度で、ステンドグラスに差し込み聖堂内に映えていました。

そして本日はワシントンからフロリダへ移動。そう、ウォルトディズニーワールドへリベンジのため。7年前に初海外として訪れ海外ショックを受け、やり残したことがあった場所です。
空港までは電車を使ったのですが、乗るためにわざわざメトロカードを買わなきゃならない・・・。しかし、駅員さんが丁寧に乗る場所を教えてくれて無事到着。

選んだのはレビュー評価の高さからサウスウエスト航空。Ronald Reagan Washington National AirportはJFKの空港と比べると、思ったよりお客さんは少なめでこじんまり。空港スタッフさんたちは穏やかでフレンドリーな感じ。
サウスウエスト航空のスタッフさんたちは、予想以上に素晴らしく・・・。LCCであり搭乗券の読み取りは人力なのですが、丁寧にお客さん一人一人に挨拶。非常設備など説明は笑顔で朗らかな機内の雰囲気。飲み物やスナックまで付いてます。とくに機長さんの「スマホは機内モードに、お子さまはサイレントモードに」や離陸前には「それでは出発進行」のようなアナウンス、着陸時には歌を歌ったりとディズニー並みのおもてなし感でした。

海外に行くと全くの無表情で対応されたり、鼻歌歌いながらであったり、同僚と時に話したりしながら、リラックスしきった感じであったりなど。やってる仕事内容が同じであっても、その人の職場であったり、仕事への向き合い方で本当にそれぞれだなぁと感じます。

到着から荷物の受け取りまで1時間・・・。30分ごとに何便も飛んでいるサウスウエスト航空の荷物の多さが感じられます。

I went to Washington yesterday. I visited the White House, the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, and the united states of capital. Sometimes the pictures on the buildings and walls are nice. Anyway, the homeless people who are well-controlled are beautiful and feel safe. You can see the policeman here and there, and they feel calm rather than a harsh look. Above all, I realized that the public toilets are clean and can be used by anyone, and that I can enjoy sightseeing with such peace of mind just by having the toilet information in the park. I saw a instrument player tuning on the street in Washington. On the other hand, NY starts as soon as I notice it. I felt that the high level of technology in NY is an important way to earn a living without missing the audience who are now.

And I thought there was a free bus section, but I realized that it wasn't. In NY, you can take a bus with Apple Pay or credit card, but in Washington, you can only use cash or a local transportation card. And how difficult it is to go sightseeing because I can't exchange money. For tourists like me who don't have a one- or two-dollar bill, the drivers took it for free due to time constraints. In fact, many tourists said, "I don't have cash, what should I do?" However, I am grateful that it is a new bus with a bulletin board and announcements. You don't have to be in the "Where am I now?" State where a driver skip the bus stop without a bulletin board or announcement that you encountered in NY. It is natural to come earlier or later than the time overseas.

I always use Google Maps to search for destinations. It is helpful to be able to use Rakuten Mobile to some extent comfortably ... (Free up to 2GB per month + 1GB can be purchased additionally from 500 yen). I also went to Washington National Cathedral. Eat rice slowly in the garden as if you had traveled back in time to the Middle Ages. I thought I was absent today because there weren't many people there, so I decided to go back the way I came. However, the place where I turned my foot to see it while I wasn't worried about it was actually the front door. Apparently I was at the back gate. I went inside just before the closing of the museum and just listened to the majestic performance of the pipe organ. I've seen many cathedrals in England, but it's by far the most beautiful place. The sunlight at dusk was shining in the stained glass at an indescribable angle.

And today I moved from Washington to Florida. Yes, for revenge to Walt Disney World. This is the place where I visited for the first time overseas 7 years ago and was shocked overseas and left behind. I took the train to the airport, but I had to buy a metro card to get on. However, the station staff politely told me where to get on and arrived safely. I chose Southwest Airlines because of its high review rating. Compared to the airport in NY, the number of customers is smaller than I expected. The airport staff feel calm and friendly. The staff at Southwest Airlines are better than expected ... Although it is an LCC and reading the boarding pass is human-powered, we politely greet each customer. The explanation of emergency equipment is a smile and a cheerful atmosphere in the cabin. It even comes with drinks and snacks. In particular, announcements such as "Smartphones in airplane mode, children in silent mode" and "Then departure progress" before takeoff were as hospitable as Disney.

When I go abroad, I feel completely expressionless, humming, and sometimes talking with my colleagues, and I feel relaxed. Even if the work I'm doing is the same, I feel that it really depends on the person's workplace and how they approach the work. One hour from arrival to receipt of luggage ... You can feel the heavy luggage of Southwest Airlines, which flies many flights every 30 minutes.
