Ludwig van Beethoven, one of the greatest composers of all time, has left us with a remarkable legacy of music. One of his most remarkable pieces is the String Trio in D major, Op.9 No.2. This work is one of a set of three string trios, and was composed in 1798–99, shortly after the First Symphony.
The String Trio in D major is a masterpiece of chamber music, and is a testament to Beethoven's ability to create magnificent works for small ensembles. The piece consists of four movements – Allegretto, Andante quasi allegretto, Menuetto – Allegro, and Rondo – that demonstrate the composer's mastery of form and structure.
