①    Earth is different from other planets /because of water. Water has a tremendous effect /on our planet. Nothing is as important as water /to life on the earth. But for water, /life on the earth would be impossible. Humans are composed /of nearly 70 percent water, and we are dependent on water /in many ways. We couldn’t do /without water even a day.
②   However, /serious water supply problems exist in regions /where fresh water is in short supply, /such as deserts. Even regions abundant in fresh water /are not without problems,/ and maintaining the quality and quantity of water /is very important.
③   Worldwide,/ we are using more and more water,/ in part because our population is on the increase and in part because,/ on the average,/ each person is using more water. Especially in developing countries,/ the supply of water can’t keep up with the demand for water.
④   To meet the need for water,/ we must take whatever steps are necessary.

①    地球は他の惑星とは異なっている、水のために。水はとてつもない影響を持っている、私たちの地球に。水ほど重要なものは無い、地球上の生命にとって。水が無ければ、地球上の生命は不可能だろう。人間は約70％の水でできている、そして私たちは水に依存している、多くの点で。私たちは水なしに済ますことはできないだろう、一日でさえ。

②    しかし、深刻な水の供給問題がある、真水が不足している地域で、砂漠のような。水が豊富な地域においてさえ、問題が無いわけでは無い、そして水の質と量を維持することはとても重要だ。

③    世界的に、私たちはますます多くの水を使っている、一つには私たちの人口が増え続けているためであり、また一つには平均してそれぞれの人がより多くの水を使っているためである。特に発展途上国において水の供給が水の需要に追い付いていけなくなっている。

⓸　水の需要を満たすために、私たちは必要などんな手段も講じなければならない。
