Discover the Allure of Burlesque Tokyo: A Must-Visit Experience!

At first, I thought visiting once a month would suffice. However, soon twice a month became essential, and before I knew it, there were months when I was going every week. Once you get hooked, it's like a never-ending quagmire. There's no end to it. While there are countless charms to Burlesque Tokyo, rather than putting it into words, the fact that I've been consistently visiting for a full three years might be the most compelling testament to its allure.

I did say 'once you get hooked, it's like a quagmire,' but don't be too intimidated. Whether you visit Burlesque Tokyo once a year or every day, you're in for a treat. It's enjoyable with friends, with your boss, or even alone. It's a mysteriously welcoming place. Think of it as a palace in Roppongi, a visit you won't regret!

So, this article is a basic guide for those who are 'visiting Burlesque Tokyo for the first time.' Please note, this is a personal account and things like their system might change over time. Always check their official website for the latest information. *The content of this article may be updated from time to time.

Pricing Plans Given its location as a 'show club in Roppongi,' many might assume it's expensive. However, it's surprisingly affordable. (After watching the show, you'll likely think it's a steal!)

If you want the most cost-effective experience at the palace, make a web reservation at least a week in advance. *No cancellation fees apply if you cancel up to 6 days before your visit.

For first-timers, the "Intense Plan" is highly recommended. The "Normal Plan" would be the next best choice. (For ladies, it's better to opt for the "Girls' Night Out Plan" under the Normal Plan. *Only for the first show.)

Plan Details:

  • Normal Plan: Random seating from all available seats, includes one drink.

  • Intense Plan: Random seating from the front row, includes one drink and a 1000 yen worth of tip.

  • Super Intense Plan: Random seating directly in front of the stage, includes one drink and a 1000 yen worth of tip.

  • Favorite Plan (Optional): For an additional 2000 yen, you can get a bromide & wristband of your favorite cast member. This also increases the chances to interact with your favorite cast member!

Please note that the names of the plans ("Intense Plan", "Super Intense Plan", etc.) are translated for clarity and might not reflect the exact branding or naming used by the establishment. Adjustments can be made as needed.

Why We Recommend the Intense Plan for First-Timers

It's simply because having a 1000 yen worth of tip makes the experience much more enjoyable! At Burlesque Tokyo, there exists a tip called "RION." There's a designated time to hand these RION tips to the girls, and guess what? You can actually "tuck it into their swimsuits!" Of course, touching is strictly prohibited, and if you're shy, you can hand it over directly. Even without any ulterior motives, the experience of giving a tip is quite unique in Japan, so it's definitely more fun if you use it on your first visit!

★Difference in Proximity between Intense and Super Intense Plans
With the Super Intense Plan, you'll most likely be looking up at the girls. It's recommended for those who want a close-up view of their backsides.

★Whether to Opt for the All-You-Can-Drink Option
Unless you're the type to drink a lot, it might be unnecessary for first-timers. Why? Because you'll be so engrossed in the show that you'll forget to drink!

Is It Okay to Go Alone? And the Proportion of Female Customers

Two frequently asked questions to the cast of Burlesque Tokyo are: "Is it okay to visit alone?" and "Are there female customers?" The answer to both is a resounding YES!!!!! The only restriction is for minors.

As for the proportion of customers: 80% are regulars, while 20% are new customers (many of whom are salaried workers). (This can vary depending on the times.) Of these, about 30% are female customers. There have been performances where, depending on the cast event, up to 90% of the audience were women!

About RION (Tips)

As mentioned earlier, Burlesque Tokyo has a tip system called "RION." While tipping might not be familiar to many Japanese and might sound "expensive," it's surprisingly affordable!

They are sold starting from 10 RIONs, with 10 RIONs priced at 1000 yen. You can choose to give all 10 RIONs to one cast member or distribute them one by one. There's a designated "tip time" at the end of the show, so take your time, enjoy the show, and find your favorite performer.

By the way,

  • 100 RIONs (worth 10,000 yen) are bundled together.

  • 200-400 RIONs are given in a bucket.

  • 500 RIONs are given with a balloon.

  • 2000 RIONs (worth 200,000 yen) are presented in an attaché case.

The way you present the RIONs changes depending on the amount. While these might sound like large amounts, it's not mandatory, and you can tip within your comfort range. Don't feel pressured or out of place if you don't give a large tip – it's all in good fun!

About the Show

The Burlesque show operates on a three-part system.
First Show Doors Open: 18:30 Start: 19:00 End: 20:15
Second Show Doors Open: 20:30 Start: 21:00 End: 22:15
Third Show Doors Open: 22:30 Start: 23:00 End: 24:15

During the second show, there's a changeover between the first and third shows. As a result, you might not get as much opportunity to chat with the cast. However, for first-timers, the atmosphere of Burlesque Tokyo might be a bit overwhelming, so experiencing the whirlwind of the second show might be a good idea (just for laughs). Of course, there's a "tip time" during the second show as well, so rest assured you'll still get a chance to interact with the cast.

Regarding Photo & Video Shooting

At Burlesque Tokyo, you are generally allowed to take photos and videos. (Both DSLRs and mobile cameras are acceptable.) However, please note that taking photos of the girls during the opening (before the show) is prohibited. While there are certain acts during the show where photography is not allowed (announced in advance), on a regular day, it's usually just one song or so. Therefore, you won't end up in a situation where you can't take any photos of the show at all. (There are also events celebrating the girls where photography is entirely prohibited. It's a good idea to check in advance if it's a birthday or anniversary celebration.)

About the Cast's Schedule
The busyness and start times of the cast vary from day to day. If you have a specific cast member you want to talk to, it might be a good idea to send them a DM saying, "I'll be there on [specific date] for [specific show]!" However, please understand that the cast may not be able to reply to your messages. While some of you might be thinking of the "Favorite Plan," personally, I believe the Favorite Plan is more enjoyable from the second visit onwards, once you've confirmed your favorite cast member. (If you've gained interaction skills from places like concept cafes, then it's great even for the first visit.) For those who prioritize enjoying the show and haven't decided on a favorite cast member yet, if it's your "first visit," you might not need to opt for the Favorite Plan.

Let's Go to Burlesque Tokyo!
