How to transfer pictures from Android to Mac without any trouble

The cameras in Android phones keep getting better. The image quality in some phones like the latest Samsung Galaxy models and the Google Pixels have point-and-shoot style cameras that let you capture professional-looking photos at high resolution. Plus, more storage space in phones and cloud apps let you take and store thousands of photos on your device.

This is all fantastic until you want to transfer pictures from Android to a Mac laptop or desktop computer and find that they aren’t compatible. Google’s Android operating system and Apple’s macOS are like two different countries with unique languages and laws governing how they function.

There is no native file transfer application built into Android or Mac for cross-operating-system sharing, but we’ve researched a few solutions how to transfer pictures from Android to Mac for you.

MacDroid is an Android file transfer Mac app that makes sharing pictures and videos between your phone and computer fast and easy. There’s no need to wait for slow file transfers or complicate things with the cloud services in which duplicates and tedious individual image downloads can make sharing pictures between Android and Mac a painstaking process.

MacDroid is designed specifically to handle the operating system discrepancies that exist between Android and mac OS for a seamless experience sharing pictures and other files across devices. For any hybrid users who like Android devices and Mac computers, MacDroid is a gamechanger.

MacDroid has two modes for transferring images between Android and Mac: single-operation mode (MTP) and multi-operation mode (ADB). Single-operation mode is the media transfer protocol (MTP) setting that lets you use your Android as if it was a zip drive or camera SD card to easily select image and video files to transfer to your Mac. Here’s how:

1) Once you’ve downloaded MacDroid, connect your Android to your Mac with a standard USB cable properly plugged into the phone and USB port on your laptop or computer.

2) On your Android, unlock the screen and make sure MacDroid is set to MTP mode. A request may appear on your phone or device, and you need to choose File Transfer, which should give you a confirmation message when a successful connection is made. If there are issues, it will give you options to troubleshoot connection errors. You can also watch troubleshooting videos through MacDroid if needed!

3) When your Android is connected, go to your Mac and open the Finder app to look at devices. Your Android should appear there. You have to mount the device by hitting the ‘Mount’ button on the interface. Here it will show you if it is in MTP mode.

4) After you mount the device, you should be able to access all the image and video files on your Android. Now you just select what files and folders you want to transfer to your Mac. Drag and drop them to the folders on your Mac where you want to save them!

This is how to download pictures from Android to Mac with MacDroid
Multi-operation mode is how you connect with the Android Debug Bridge (ADB), which allows your Mac to connect more smoothly with your device. MacDroid facilitates the ADB connection, giving your Mac total access to your phone rather than just giving it access to some files in MTP mode.

This speeds up the transfer process by reducing the amount of communication between the Android and Mac. It’s as if the MTP is a gate with an Android gatekeeper who has to talk with the Mac gatekeeper to pass files back and forth while the ADB is a totally open gate that lets files move freely.
