Our Approach to Safety

At REALITY, you can break free from the constraints of the real world to become “whoever you want” and express yourself in several ways. 
We have users who actively pursue their dreams and objectives, users who support those giving their best in their activities, users who just want to enjoy a relaxed REALITY lifestyle, and many other forms of becoming whoever you want. 

In order to make REALITY a place where many people can connect and engage in a variety of activities, we believe that it is necessary to make REALITY a safe environment for the community to use. We have been working on various initiatives such as strengthening audits and developing functions to make REALITY safer. On the other hand, we have not disclosed to you our specific efforts and the number of detections to date.

To ensure that everyone can enjoy REALITY with peace of mind, we have decided to launch a Transparency Report this month to disclose the number of issues that have been addressed, our efforts to improve safety, problems reported by users, and our policy for resolving these issues. The Transparency Report will be updated monthly.

Number of Cases Handled - December 2023

In December, there was a significant increase in the number of reports and penalties compared to the previous month, likely due to the year-end and New Year holidays. Particularly, the detection of fraudulent activities using multiple accounts related to year-end and New Year events increased, resulting in the highest number of account suspensions to date. On the other hand, the restrictions on users under 13 years old decreased, thanks in part to reports.

Efforts in December 2023

Regarding fraudulent activities involving the use of multiple accounts

Around the timing of the "15 Million Downloads Celebration Campaign" in November and the year-end and New Year events, we have observed cases where a large number of multiple accounts were created to engage in activities that violate our terms of service.
While REALITY currently does not restrict the use of multiple accounts within the limits of enjoying the service in compliance with the rules, the act of "acquiring accounts for the purpose of engaging in prohibited activities" as described above is expressly prohibited under Article 15 of the Terms of Service.
In the event of detection, all accounts held may be subject to usage restrictions, and this could lead to the loss of accounts that users have cherished over the years.
We kindly ask you to review the Terms of Service and event guidelines and refrain from engaging in activities that violate the terms.

Measures related to users under the age of 13

We have received periodic comments regarding the use of REALITY by users under 13 years old through surveys, so we would like to explain the current measures in place for users in this age group.
To create an account on REALITY, users must be 13 years old or older (the minimum age may be higher based on local laws). Currently, age verification is conducted for all users at the start of the app usage, and users below the permissible age are prevented from creating an account.
Additionally, we continually monitor accounts that may be falsifying their age through user reports and operational patrols. If it is determined that an account is being used by a child under 13 years old, we implement permanent account suspension measures.
Since the revamp of the reporting function in September 2023, more users have been able to submit reports, leading to an increase in the detection of underage use. To protect the safety of children, if you discover an account that you believe belongs to a child under 13, please continue to report it using the in-app reporting function. We appreciate your cooperation.
