Why I decided to write this article

In short, ETH gas fee is so high.

L2 chain has low gas costs. And there are several L2 chain NFTs. Among them, BASE has low bridge costs and gas costs, and the price unit is ETH, so it is easy for everyone to understand.
(Polygon is especially cheap for gas fee, but the open edition uses MATIC notation, so it's not easy to understand the price. And, not supported on Manifold…)

This table is a rough estimate. Please check the exact numbers yourself.

Even if the NFT is free, there is a gas fee to purchase it. High gas fee disappear into thin air without entering the creators. Even as collectors, high gas fee is a waste.

Also, when putting it into secondary distribution. You will need to approve each collection, but gas fees will apply.
For example, if you bought an NFT for $1 and want to put it into secondary circulation, it will cost you $5 in Approval gas fees. There's no one who would sell something at a loss, right?

On the other hand, at BASE, where gas fees are low, it is about $0.09.
It is truly SGDs that allows for easy secondary distribution of NFTs.
It's environmentally friendly.

I think low gas fees are very attractive, especially for low-priced NFTs.
(I think high-grade NFTs (1/1 NFTs) are good at Foundation as usual.)

How to Open Edition with BASE, on Manifold! STEP by STEP

Let's create BASE Open Edition!
If you've created an open edition with Manifold, it's easy. Just prepare a contract (collection) for BASE.

STEP [1] Prepare BASE in your MetaMask wallet.

Gas fee is low, so you don't need to have much ETH for Open Edition.
$10 (0.006ETH) is enough.

go to chainlist.org and search "BASE"

Click OK when Metamask pops up a notification window.

MetaMask will ask you if you want to switch networks. OK.

STEP [2] make BASE contract (collection) on Manifold

go to Manifold Studio, and make BASE contract.

TYPE … choose your favorite one. There is no problem either way.
            ERC721 … Each NFT belongs to its own owner.
            ERC1155 … has many owners in one NFT.

Deploy your contract: … Main Network
Choose Network … Base

then, Deploy!

make Open Edition NFT!
go to Apps tab, Install Claim Page.

click New Caim Page.

Select a Creator Contract. 
Here, select the contract of the BASE chain.

A shorter contract name might be better. Two of the three failed to create the contract and cannot be used lol

Finally, my opinion

・I think BASE is good for low-priced NFT. Gas fees are cheap both when buying and when secondary distribution.

・There are still many people who are not familiar with the chain that BASE-ETH does not have, so for the time being it may be a good idea to create the ETH open edition and the BASE open edition at the same time and choose the one you like and receive it.
It may be exactly the same, or if you change the version a little (change accessories, or change colors), you may be able to buy both.

・I think ETH mainnet chain is fine for luxury NFTs.

・I think the ETH mainnet chain is fine for PFP (Twitter's PFP supports ETH)

・OpenSea supports BASE.

・OnCyber ​​does not support BASE. However, you can paste images instead of NFTs, so you can decorate your collection.
