Taiwan 4 - meals during quarantine
The last article was about my room
Today it's about the meals, one of the most important elements of the quarantine life!
Basic info of our meals during quarantine
As mentioned in Taiwan 2 - Quarantine, there are 3 meals a day and the time is already announced. Around the time the meals are brought and put on the tray right in front of the door.
During the daytime they would ring the doorbell but when I open the door all you see is just this. It felt so sad for the first few days!
The meals has a variety such as bread, rice, noodles, meat, fish, and they are generally satisfying. But the same 7-day menu is repeated twice, so in the second week (right now) I am wanting something different. I will put some photos of the meals at the end of this article.
It is also fine to use deliveries such as Uber Eats, but it is also received by the reception and brought to the room like the picture above. In Taiwan there is a lot to choose from on Uber Eats and the cost is also low compared to Japan so it is really helpful to have it especially during the quarantine.
Routine
Since we have 4 colleagues staying in the same hotel, we often connect on zoom and eat together. We talk a lot, sometimes order desserts and eat them together, and sometimes play cards together. We were lucky to be travelling with 4 members.
Allergy and meals
I'm gluten free so I avoided breads and noodles and ordered some food on Uber Eats instead. Depending on the hotel it seems that you can cancel the meal until the day before, but my hotel couldn't do that and also didn't have the gluten-free option, so I decide what to do after checking every meal.
When I want noodles, pho is there for me.
There are a lot of gluten-free desserts in Taiwan so I can enjoy food a lot. I have no photos of the desserts because I'm too passionate about them and I start eating as soon as I receive them before taking photos..
Breakfast
sandwiches and sweet tea
congee (a lot, with bread)
McDonald's (we were all surprised)
Lunch and Dinner
Sometimes we had noodles like udon and ramen which were provided with soup and noodles separated.
We still haven't been able to enjoy night markets or street foods, but thanks to the deliveries we are smelling a bit of Taiwan!
