今月特に衝撃だったアルバムは、Danizig、Paledusk、Crossfaithでした。

エルヴィス・プレスリーのカバーアルバムが必要になるなんて思わなかったけど、このアルバムにある曲を聞いて分かったのですが、グレン・ダンジグの声はエルヴィス・プレスリーの声と似ています。そして、Danzigによって加えられた暗いエッセンスは、激しい音楽を好む僕にとってはむしろとても心地よく感じられます。

Paleduskは今まで割と受身に聞いていましたが、この「Happy Talk」というEPには、とりわけ興味が湧きました。彼らの作り出す音楽、スケートパンク、ハードコア、メタルコア、そしてヒップホップがとてもクリエイティブな形で混ざり合った、このEPは特に。

そして最後になりましたが、 Crossfaithです。 Crossfaithはいつも、エレクトロニコアとメタルコアのミックスによりCrossfaithらしい音を作り出しますが、このEP、特にJin Dogg.にフィーチャリングした"None of Your Business”という曲には、ヒップホップの大きな影響が感じられます。

この3つのアルバム以外にも挙げるとすれば、Meat Puppetsでしょうか。ハードコアパンクバンドバンドが、オルタナティヴ・カントリーになれるとは考えたこともありませんでしたが、彼らは彼らなりのスタイルで挑んでいました。

Danzig, Paledusk, and Crossfaith; this month, it was albums by these three that really impressed me. I never thought I needed a Danzig Elvis cover album, but hearing the darkness that Danzig adds to these songs makes them far more palatable for my heavy tastes.

As for Paledusk, I had listened to them before passively, but this EP really pulled me towards them more than anything I had heard before. Their music, especially this EP, has a creative blend of skate punk, hardcore, metalcore, and hip hop.

Last, but definitely not least, Crossfaith. Crossfaith will always sound like Crossfaith, with their electronicore / metalcore blend, but this EP featured a much more larger hip hop influence, especially the song "None of Your Business", featuring Jin Dogg.

This month's honorable mention goes to Meat Puppets. I never thought a hardcore punk band could become alternative country, but they did so with style.
