Happy Birthday Craig

今日はヴァインズのフロントマン、クレイグ・ニコルズの44歳の誕生日だ。彼の書く曲は全部最高だけど、彼自身もヘンテコで好きなんだ。

クレイグは理想のロッカーだと思う。
彼は音楽を愛し、また愛されていて、音楽にすべてを捧げているから。
彼の音楽性はずっと変わらず、彼が作る音楽は常に寸分違わずロックであり続けるから。
彼は音楽を作り続けることを決してやめないから。
彼は決して他人や企業のためではなく、純粋に自分のためだけに音楽を作るから。
彼は生き残っているから。

でも神格化するつもりはない。彼は類まれな天才ではあるけど、一方で傷ついた、ただの人間だ。だから今日は人としての彼の幸せを願う。シドニーはまだ当分寒いんだろうな、元気だろうか。クレイグ、誕生日おめでとう。

Today is the 44th birthday of Craig Nicholls, the singer of The Vines. All the songs he writes are great and he's strange so I like him.

I think Craig is the ideal rocker.
Because he loves music and is loved by it, and he gives it everything he has.
Because his musicianship has never changed, and the music he makes always rocks to the core.
Because he never stops making music.
Because he never makes music for other people or companies, but purely for himself.
Because he's surviving.

But I'm not going to deify him. He's an exceptional genius, but on the other hand, he's just a damaged man. So today I wish him happiness as a human. It's still cold in Sydney for a while, I hope he's well.
