Amazon.comは、シアトル、ニューヨーク、サンフランシスコにあるレジなし店舗「Amazon Go」8店舗を閉鎖し、売上が伸び悩む中、Eコマース大手によるコスト削減の最新ラウンドとなる。

同社は金曜日に、該当する店舗は4月1日まで営業すると発表しました。

アマゾンの広報担当者ジェシカ・マーティンは、電子メールによる声明の中で、「他の物理的な小売業者と同様に、我々は定期的に店舗のポートフォリオを評価し、その過程で最適化の意思決定を行う」と述べています。"我々は、Amazon Goフォーマットにコミットしたまま、全米で20以上のAmazon Goストアを運営し、どの場所と機能が顧客と最も共鳴するかを学び続けるだろう。"

Amazon will close cashierless stores in three major cities

Amazon.com is closing eight cashierless Amazon Go locations in Seattle, New York and San Francisco, marking the e-commerce giant's latest round of cost-cutting amid slowing sales growth.

The affected stores will remain open until April 1, the company said Friday.

"Like any physical retailer, we periodically assess our portfolio of stores and make optimization decisions along the way," Amazon spokesperson Jessica Martin said in an emailed statement. "We remain committed to the Amazon Go format, operate more than 20 Amazon Go stores across the U.S. and will continue to learn which locations and features resonate most with customers."
