Happening at a driving school

Nice to meet you

My name is Eiki Homma, the CEO of Open Up LLC.

Today I will be writing about something I was able to experience at a driving school since I’m diagnosed with type one diabetes.

Before attending an orientation meeting, I had to apply to start my driving school.

During the procedure, the person in charge asked me if I was diagnosed with a disease. I told the person in charge, “I am diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. And the symptoms I have when my blood sugar is low is I lose strength, and when my blood sugar is high, I go to the bathroom frequently.” At that moment, the people at the driving school could not determine if I had the right to take the lessons. So I was asked to check a different center the next day.

This was when I realized, “There are people who do not recognize type 1 diabetes in Japan.”

The next day I called the different center, and they asked me more precise questions about my symptoms. After answering all questions, the person on the phone told me I could take the lessons.

If I cause an accident because my blood sugar level was low, I will cause trouble to people around, people who word in the road construction industry, and also will damage the “Type 1 diabetes” brand. So, I asked, “what they take into consideration and what they do to prevent accidents” in a Facebook group with people who are diagnosed with type one diabetes. Few members replied and gave me advice. I will consider these pieces of advice and start my driving lessons.

But first, I need to pass my test to get my driving license.

Please share this account with your friends, family members, coworkers, and other relatives.

I have minimal experience with note, so if there are any pieces of advice or options I could use, it would be thankful if you teach me.

Thank you for your cooperation.
