PFASの水汚染はグアムでも

グアムのほぼすべての公共水道システムは、米国政府が新たに定める基準値を超える濃度のPFASに汚染されている可能性があると、グアムEPA（環境保護庁）が指摘。(Guam Daily Post, 2023/8/28)

The comment also points out that nearly all of Guam’s public water systems already may have higher-than-acceptable levels of PFAS, a so-called “forever chemical” linked to congenital birth defects and other illnesses, if pending regulations from the U.S. EPA are enacted. U.S. EPA has linked high levels of the chemical to hundreds of military bases.

Levels of two toxic “forever chemicals” known as PFOS and PFOA detected in military water wells across the island last year are far beyond the levels that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency now considers safe.
That’s based on water quality reports issued by the Air Force and Navy.
