2021 Review vol.8(At Yoichi Eco Village, apples and knotweed work)

Speaking of healthy plants that thrive all over Hokkaido ?!
Yes, it's a knotweed....

The front is a knotweed colony

Speaking of the growth of the plant, which is also called the giant knotweed, it is no longer hampered, and it is probably growing 10 cm in a day.

In spring, when buds are in bloom, the buds and stems are collected, cooked and eaten in various ways.
It is an excellent wild grass that can be used as tea, but when it grows, it forms a community at a height of 3 m or more, and when the field is surrounded by knotweed, it makes it difficult to ventilate.

Mr. I, a member of Yoichi Ecovillage, had previously planted 10 apple trees, but the Japanese knotweed blocked the ventilation of the apple orchard.

My delusions…Yoichi is famous for apples.
The luxury of eating apples made by yourself and harvested by yourself.

Eat apples raw, make jam, eat sautéed pork with applesauce, bake apples in camp, make compotes🎵🎵🎵

Grin ( ̄∇ ̄ )
I'm an apple tycoon.
Forever paranoia runs wild^^;

I'm a glutton who is immediately hard to talk about with nothing but excitement.

Mr. Y of the Wild Grass Club also invited us, and under the guidance of Mr. I, we started pruning the apple orchard from around May, and proceeded smoothly with the care of the apple orchard, picking flowers, and bagging.

Apples growing well
Bagged apples

One day in late June, after such a calm and warm day, I suddenly realized that the area around the apple orchard was transformed into a jungle of kudzu and knotweed.

(Voice of the Heart)

The biggest enemy is the knotweed that blocks the wind!
Right!! I'm going to start cutting knotweed right now!!
I'm the one who controls this jungle~!!

Look at this jungle

I swung my long-handled sickle around and smashed through the dark dense jungle of knotweed.

It can easily knock down a knotweed about 3 meters high.
Knock down the knotweed to create a bright space

Well, the good thing about this knotweed is that even if you cut a thick stem, it will be easily knocked down with a "spong" sound.

The sourness of the leaves and this "spong" sound are derived from the locals calling it "scampo".

The exhilaration of defeating a knotted bird over 3 meters and the feeling of openness that you can see the sky✨✨✨

I can't say how good it feels!!!
I think this is definitely the best way to relieve stress🎵

When I was alone and reaping knotweed, all the knotweed colonies of about 200 meters were knocked down, and there were many knotweed lying there,
A cool breeze passed by.

Yep, my apple is fine with this.
I patted my chest with relief and left the apple orchard feeling refreshed.

You did a good job today.
